msc 18,476 Posted May 7, 2017 Two random and meaningless Sunday afternoon type facts. 1. If you take what her character Diana says about being there in Cambodia as a correspondent when she became a pensioner, then Stephanie Cole is still younger today than her character in Waiting for God. Which, incidentally, is a fine sitcom and is being repeated on one of the Freeview channels, Drama I think. 2. The row of luxury flats where I believe Peter Arne lived (and was murdered), going from the limited clues online, appears to host the Ecuadorian embassy which Assange is hiding in today. Not the exact building, but a curio quirk of history, I thought.

I am going to have to defend myself here. There is a narrative imperative in the use of this opening. I am establishing the contradiction between the supposed intent and the reality that I am presenting. The omission of the words would make sense but it would remove the sense of guilt over the said contradiction for the reader.

Lord Fellatio Nelson 6,219 Posted May 8, 2017 Ok, so ( Toastie ) I pulled a muscle in my back last week while at work. I had the bastard thing all week until this morning when it seemed to disappear. Unfortunately, during an intensive vacuuming of the house, I pulled the bastard muscle again. FUCK!!!!!!!!!!
Toast 16,143 Posted May 8, 2017 A piece has just fallen off one of my teeth. As it happens, I had a routine dental appointment booked in a couple of weeks time, so I rang to see if they could get me an earlier one. My regular dentist has been on maternity leave, but she is back now. Last time I saw a squeaky-voiced teenager in whom I had no confidence whatsoever. Imagine my horror when it emerged that they had booked me in again with the teenager (possibly a slight exaggeration, but she looked about 12) instead of my regular dentist. When I booked, I had made a particular point of checking that regular dentist would be back by then. First available appointment with my proper dentist is a month away. Bloody furious. It also emerged today that the teenager was not the locum with whom my previous appointment had been booked, but someone else entirely.

I have liked this post purely for the use of the word 'harridans'. My old man thinks I'm the only person in the world to ever say it, I can now prove him wrong. Thank you and well done!

The aunts had previously only stayed on the floor, now the ones in the living room were climbing the walls and couch. Luckily, this was probably only them going mad from the poison, and the next couple of days they quickly disappeared. Then in the weekend, while making our morning coffees and teas and whatnot, we noticed a bunch of aunts on the kitchen countertop. Every couple of hours you'd go down there and have to kill ten or so. Anyways, my mom decided to use natural remedies this time and put a bunch of lemon peels around the area. The little fuckers left and there's been no sign of them since.... for now.... FTFY. There, your story just got more interesting now...
msc 18,476 Posted May 9, 2017 ^ Rad Chap's story does feel like Chapter 1 in a Stephen King, true. As for "harridans", I use it all the time. Picked it up off my gran using it.

Human Geography is stuff like social issues, demographics, linguistics, etc. As opposed to Physical Geography which is about rocks and hills and volcanoes and shit.
