Not only that TMIB, but keep this up and you could break the monthly hits record!..

 

 

Good riddance to bad rubbish, a DDP hit I'm delighted to take and it makes my final DDP 20 for next year a lot easier to decide too, as well as helping this years score much more respectable with three hits in the last couple of weeks.

Australian murderess Tracey Wigginton, aka "The Lesbian Vampire Killer", is to be freed after serving 22 years of her life sentence. She is apparently suffering from hepatitis C and is in very poor health. Don't know about her UK obit chances, but the Daily Mail have done a story on her.

Not a case that was covered much outside Scotland but this young man has just been convicted of murder and I would imagine is a high suicide risk. He'll certainly get press coverage if he does kill himself - the Scottish tabloids will have a field day as it will give them another excuse to publish all the salacious details of this very tragic case. Craig Roy himself has a history of self harming - admittedly that was by his own admission and used in his defense, how true that is I don't know, but certainly a very troubled young man. He will now be in the full prison system, there is a reason people are remanded in custody, mainly because they are a risk, but for some it is also to adjust them to 'prison life' so they know what to expect if they get convicted.Roy has been out on bail for almost all of the 21 months since the murder so will have no experience of what to expect inside.

Another inmate worthy of consideration would be Brian Shivers, 44, a Real IRA type person who is awaiting trial for allegedly shooting a couple of soliders in Antrim earlier this year. His lawyers tried to stop judges from detaining him in custody, saying that the poor lamb suffers from cystic fibrosis and his life would be at risk if he was kept in a confined enviroment, especially if he was exposed to the swine flu virus. The average life expectancy for cystic fibrosis suffers is well below forty and it is very rare for sufferers to live much past the age of 50. So he's done very well to get this far, especially if he really was healthy enough to open fire on an army barracks.

 

Shivers has gone down for 25, although it'd be a miracle if he sees out more than two of those. I'm pretty sure a fair few DDPers have got him pencilled in for 2013 already.

George Rivas, the leader of Texas Seven who gained fame for breaking out of prison in 2000, has been executed. He is the second of the Seven to be executed, after Michael Anthony Rodriguez in 2008. The remaining 4 are all awaiting execution.

Larry James Harper committed suicide during a standoff with police in 2001.

There's been a lot of press coverage recently about the three DL jailbirds - Susan Atkins, Ronnie Biggs and Abdelbaset Al-megrahi. Two of them are now free and Atkins is up for another parole hearing on Sept 2nd, although she will be up against the American justice system, who generally take a harder line when it comes to matters of compassion and mercy. There is a reasonable chance that they will all be dead by the end of the year.

 

I suggest that the 2010 DL should have another prisoner on the list, there's plenty of choice of ailing criminals, and their lawyers generally drip feed us with information about their clients' declining health.

 

I've thought of a few who might make the grade:

 

Ian Brady -Constant hunger strikes and forty plus years of custody will take their toll before too long.

 

William Heirens - Not exactly a household name in the UK, but he is America's and possibly the world's longest serving inmate. He hasn't been a free man since 1946.

 

Donald Neilson - The Black Panther. In jail since 1975, now believed to be suffering from motor neurone disease.

 

Ian Huntley - Would be a bit of a result if he actually died in 2010, but he is due to be "integrated" with the general prison population shortly. I'm sure some of his fellow inmates will have received enough incitement from The Sun to do him in.

Whether - like Jamie Bulger's killers - she's reckless enough to give herself away easily, remains to be seen. Either way, she's not exactly popular with the general public.

 

At best she'd make series two of The Undateables.

Along with the - allegedly - suicidal Shrien Dewani (accused of hiring a hitman to kill his bride on honeymoon in South Africa), it is now being reported that alleged hitman Xolide Mngenie is so ill with a brain tumour he won't survive to stand trial, or qualify for 2012 dead pool teams!

 

Xolile Mngeni appeared in court on Friday and his ongoing poor health was discussed:

 

 

Mngeni's lawyer, Matthews Dayimani, told the court that Mngeni had a "mental defect, double vision, dizzy spells and headaches".

He said he intended to apply for his client to be sent for observation. Medical reports before the court revealed Mngeni was diagnosed with a brain tumour in March 2011 and that it had spread "extensively along the lining of the spinal cord and the brain". Dayimani said Mngeni had been examined by Dr Jeannette Parkes, a radiation oncologist at Groote Schuur Hospital, who told him that his immune system was very weak and that he should be confined to a hospital bed.

I don't think so. I think he will want to hang around in prison being a reminder to the whole nation.

 

Suicide I don't think will fit in with his narrative.

 

However, being attacked and killed by another inmate probably would.

 

This is such a hard situation for the Norwegian authorities.

He had ample time to kill himself when he committed that massacre.

 

Knowing the bastard he'll escape prison. From a 24-hr news perspective that would probably be the most exciting news event ever!
