Sir Creep 7,070 Posted March 2, 2019 Wash your $70 work shirt you just bought for the first time (Oh it’s ok, FRC required, I hate coveralls (free), so the $$$ cost for jeans and shirt ($130 let’s say) is expected, doesn’t mean it doesn’t sting a little).

SSWDeathlistfan1996 27 Posted April 14, 2019 Do we feel that 2020 will be similar to 2016? Like 2019 is the calm before the severe celebrity death storm?
Joey Russ 7,226 Posted April 26, 2019 Take the Political Compass test. And yes, I know it’s was posted ten years back but I feel like it should be brought up again. My placement by the way:
Deathray 2,940 Posted April 26, 2019 I've always found the political compass somewhat flawed though, as a caveat (some of the questions are weird; the one about astrology often strikes me is irrelevant). Interestingly I've grown more socially liberal since the last time I took it (several years ago) but more economically left wing. Although this does prove I'm not a communist (an accusation that has been leveled at me) but a socialist.
Clorox Bleachman 2,419 Posted April 26, 2019 Was more on the authoritarian side of things when I took this test a few years ago, back when I was a wee innocent straight Catholic. Where did it all go wrong?
En Passant 3,741 Posted April 27, 2019 Not sure if I should be worried or proud. I could have just copy/pasted Deathers or Joey pretty much
Sir Creep 7,070 Posted April 27, 2019 Fuxsake it's an hour long test! Will edit and post if I ever finish. Looks like presently @The Quim Reaper and I are pretty closely aligned.
Bibliogryphon 9,579 Posted April 27, 2019 Last time I did it I was bottom left but not too far off the centre. Seems a fairly solid group of us in that quadrant.

Same here, but I didn't trust its accuracy because there was no option for "neither agree nor disagree", which I could have made use of for some questions. Some things you might agree with in certain situations but not in others.

I kind of treated the 'agree' and 'disagree' options as a yes/no, but with caveats, and the 'strongly' options for the unequivocal questions. But you're right, a lot of responses are an agree or disagree but with provisos.
En Passant 3,741 Posted April 27, 2019 All these questionnaires seem to be the same in that regard, no place for nuance. I think they are supposedly designed so that all works out in the wash, although I'm not sure about the specifics of how. I also don't understand the relevance of that entire page devoted to belief (or not) in acupuncture, astrology, the existence of bigfoot and other assorted quackery....where in my view any answer other than strongly think that's utter garbage should get your entire result invalidated

Astrology is rubbish but it's endurance is probably down to cultural environmental experience. For example everyone born at a particular time of year will have similar experiences of the education system and relationship to particular times of year and so may display some similar traits. What astrology tries to do is map onto this rather than be the cause. I think what these questions in the survey are trying to get at is where you stand with regard to faith and rationality.
