I actually inhereited one of these from an American relative. I always wondered about it and why it might have been made. They are strong suckers and last a long time.

The pattern is actually from the 1930s . I did a bit of research and found it on the internet. It's called the Mount Vernon Afghan and came from a booklet of crochet patterns from the 1930s.

Since you've allowed a granny into the group. :)

I've never heard those called afghans. Why is that?

This is what was an afghan in my day (well, a bit before my day as my pocket money would not have stretched to one)

You're not alone, Toast, I've never heard the term 'Afghan' applied to blankets either and I'm a Granny too!

I think of the dogs of that name... stunningly beautiful, thick as treacle, bless them.

Must be an American thing. I've seen them called that in several American knitting and crochet books.

Vaguely remember a 'Pearls a singer' thread.

Qualifies under 2 counts.

Read up on pornhubs site traffic!

http://www.pornhub.com/insights/2016-year-in-review

Pornhub is a bit shit.
Lol, was showing a boy at work today, that YouTube one of john Mccaffee and uninstalling the software <you know the one, coke, hookers and a gun>.

One of the letters of complaint he read out was how the writer no longer could access pornhub and was stuck with xhamster :D

*if you are unfamiliar with it, google YouTube uninstall McAfee ...

Have an SJW brainwash your kids.

I wanna state i have nothing against gays or gay marriage even but to teach toddlers gender and identity politics is insane and creepy. Children are none romantic and non sexual as they haven't biologically developed so how actually can you explain that to them ? This is brainwashing nothing more nothing less. Think about it if a man and woman were teaching their toddlers gays should be killed or they're going to hell etc that would be equally insane and creepy. This Liberal SJW band of fanatics are becoming scary actively targeting children to brainwash them into their point of view. At first it's very funny and like a parody until you realise its real then it becomes like a horror show.

Unfortunately our company "diversity and inclusion" manager is now using a desk in our office while her husband is deployed out here.

I was discussing the reports that teachers are being advised not to call pupils "boys and girls" that hit the headlines last year, with a colleague and she interrupted and had her ten pence worth with how its correct and allows children to develop with no bias??

Grips my shit.

Leave the kids alone, they can work out their own lives when they're older. When they're children they're boys and girls for gods sake.

The bitch also reported me for having a conversation (again with a colleague, not her) for saying while we were on a walk round the mountain one weekend, a bug landed on my 6 year old boys arm and he "screamed like a girl"

Apparently this is derogatory to females... even though she was the only female in the room, sat several banks of desks away and wasn't part of the conversation and in fact, his high pitched shriek sounded like it came from a girl!!

Rant over.
