Lord Fellatio Nelson 6,218 Posted June 11, 2016 At Lords today watching 3rd Test - looks okay. I just think some of these royal engagements involve standing for frigging ages on either very hot or cold days and that's not something that most 95 year olds are able to do. Clutching at straws there, mind, because he clearly isn't most 95 year olds. Along with the health care benefits of being a senior royal he's been spared the kind of strenous work that puts serious pressure on some part of your body and fed well, cared for by the best doctors etc. He might well see 100 and given the longevity of the current royal couple there's a fair chance their cleaner living kids - the two eldest - might well go on for ages too In the cut and thrust of 9 to 5 work on Building sites and stuff, yes, that's true. I think he has made up for that a tad though by his years of competitive carriage driving which has given him the odd injury or three and is pretty demanding on the body. The fact that he was still competing when he should have long retired suggests that he is doing well to hit 95 even with all that care at his disposal. Toast 16,129 Posted June 11, 2016 Yes, and if memory serves, he took up the carriage driving after giving up polo on medical advice.

Apparently he took it up. in 1971 Yes, I didn't realise it was that long ago. Useful article here about his health and medical history - five years old but still of interest. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/theroyalfamily/8976754/The-Duke-of-Edinburgh-has-enjoyed-good-health-for-much-of-his-life.html

Sean 6,311 Posted December 12, 2016 Yeah not a fan of Schofield.Dont think the Duke is either. He is clearly very active both mentally and physically for 95.The only signs of his age are a weak voice and panda eyes like you have never seen before. Can still walk around for four hours unaided and go up and down stairs.Dont think he will go this year or next. harbingerofdoom 1 Posted December 22, 2016 Philip and Liz not going to Sandringham "due to heavy colds". Hmmm. Is that palace code for one of them about to croak? Or both? If one went now, it would hardly be worth putting all the funeral stuff back in the palace loft. Just keep one on ice and get a bogof on the state funeral.
