Visually this is likely how he imagined one of his best lyrics

Incidentally - trivia hounds - the only non-performing member ever inducted as part of a band into the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame

Probably more famous for her work on I'll Be There For You by The Rembrandts and September and Boogie Wonderland for Earth, Wind and Fire.

She was on a few episodes of Storage Wars, which is the top of American culture. Quirky as hell.

The fact that the funkiest song of all-time was written by a tiny Jewish woman never fails to amaze me.

Is Storage Wars that popular? I am more inclined to watch Flea Market Flip.

I watch it at dinner time on a channel called "Cielo". A no-brainer program, but quite entertaining.

Late songwriting icon Allee Willis to be honoured with tribute at Detroit's Eastern Market.

When I started this thread, I would never have thought I'd be mentioning Adam Schlesinger, whose death is reported elsewhere, but who I hope you don't me adding here, as songwriting was his true talent.

I'd call him more an acquaintance than a friend, but two memories stand out. The first was when he and Chris stayed at my flat as members of The Wallflowers, a name they gave up to Jacob Dylan soon after, before forming FoW. They had the misfortune to be there while a 'party' was going on, and spent half the night sequestered in a bedroom playing Scrabble with my flatmate Nic.

The other was getting me a pass to see them play Stacy's Mom on Top of the Pops, as a besotted teenager of... 36! I stayed well out of camera shot and made my way to the legendary TVC bar after their slot.

Thanks for reading, and look after yourselves and your loved ones in these strange days. Should I link a YouTube, if i can remember how?

Also a pretty good Record Producer with close to 100 credits. The 2016 Monkees  album Good Time might be their best work

Kenny Young, writer of "Under the Boardwalk", "Ai No Corrida" and "S-S-Single Bed" among others, dead. His death, obviously, was announced on Twitter by George Monbiot.

How strange, almost spooky - I sang Ai No Corrida two days ago on a karaoke app, unaware that he co-wrote it, that he'd died, or that he even existed in the first place (thought it was just Chaz's song).

And co-writing Boardwalk in his teens too! Though it kinda suggests he was born in 1950 on the net,  that's surely wrong and it was actually mid-1940s, unless he was 13 when penning it? Either way, impressive.

Moraes Moreira, an exuberantly prolific Brazilian songwriter who fused the regional traditions of his home state, Bahia, with an ever-changing array of styles in a career that stretched from the late 1960s through the 2010s, died on Monday at his home in Rio de Janeiro. He was 72.

His son said the cause was a heart attack.

The photo of him here in 1963 suggests he must have been older, or else suffered from progeria:

Jamaican singer-songwriter Millie Small, known for her 1964 cover of The Cadillacs' song "My Boy Lollipop," and popularized the "bluebeat" style, died at 73 years:

Barely a songwriter at all, but yeah Lollipop is a neat tune. RIP Dolly.

Only fair to pay tribute to one of the greats. Ritchie Adams has died aged 71. http://blitzmag.blogspot.co.uk/2007/02/bits-and-pieces-news-about-your_3.html

Composer of such hits as Bobby Lewis' Tossin' and Turnin', The Marcels' Give Me Back Your Love, and probably most importantly credited for The Tra-La-La Song, which was the theme to the Banana Splits show.

He was the original lead singer on The Fireflies 1959 US hit, You Were Mine:

And now the report of the death of Mark Barkan, co-writer of The Banana Splits Theme: http://abcnewsradioonline.com/music-news/2020/5/11/veteran-pop-and-rock-songwriter-mark-barkan-dies-at-age-85.html

And wrote Pretty Flamingo. On those two numbers alone, RIP.

Mildly spooky coincidence - I sang The Tra La La song on a karaoke website...on May 8th! I hope the two events weren't psychically connected.
