I'm fairly sure that young Max was never taken behind the lines to meet Hitler. And at most being only 5 years old, he could hardly claim to "have known him personally". The children of the leading Nazis would've met him, indeed Hitler was godfather to some. Edda Goring (b.1938), Albert Speer (b.1934) and Gudrun Himmler (b.1929) would remember him and are all alive.
