One worth watching; Father Gabriel Amorth (b.1925). Someone tipped me yesterday that he and his department don't appear to exist on the Vatican website but he's their chief exorcist and has enjoyed fleeting publicity, notably in places like Will Storr's book about the paranormal. Given that it's the like of investigate journos who've repeatedly sought him out; his passing may well be written up.

There's a world of difference to breaking your neck and breaking your collarbone. The collarbone is part of the shoulder.

I can see how that would put you off. I got thrown from a horse when I was 10. Thankfully I only ended up with a bruised hip. It would have been a nice gesture if they had told me in advance why the horse was called Thunder and that the previous 3 people that had ridden him were also thrown.

Dr Kate Granger continues to blog about her condition (getting treatment, clearly better than a few people she sees at the same clinic) and recently lost her grandmother.

So, the ethics thread may get agitated at the end of this year if she continues at this pace.

That'd be about as tragic as Terry Christian falling bollock-first into the piranha tank at London Zoo.

Lynne Stewart, ex-lawyer of Omar Abdel-Rahman, if she makes it through 2013. Lynne is currently serving a ten-year sentence for passing information from The Blind Sheikh along to his terror group. She is undergoing chemo for advance-staged breast cancer and is seeking a compassionate release.
