What about Scherer’s teamate Vaclav Mašek ? He is not on this list but Wikipedia still list him as alive. I couldn’t find pages saying that he’s dead.

A complete legend of the late 70s. The first million pound transfer was the talk of the school playground. The papers were saying football had gone mad. Now it wouldn't get you a reserve goalkeeper in the 2nd Division.

DDP selection of mine, given his World Cup credentials should QO. On the downside, he was also an ABC pool entry!

If only we can find an obit saying that Nelson Lopez (Wiki) is dead, I don't know if we can trust the comment from this blog post saying he died a long time ago. I did find in his Spanish wiki that he died in 1980 in the categories. No link, explanation or even from the info box that mentions this.

Someone made a new post 3 days ago saying that he died in January 1990. No obit or source to back that up though.

He is the second longest lived* and centenarian FIFA WC coach, after Mexican  Ignacio Trelles who died in 2020 aged 103.

Now the oldest living coach is Uruguayan José Santamaria , he is 94. He is also one of the last surviving players of the 1954 WC.

*  the death dates of three FIFA WC coaches are unknown : Cuban José Tapia and Czechoslovak Josef Meissner both of the 1938 WC and North Korean Myung Rye Rhun of the 1966 WC.

I'm appalled that it's come to this. His reaction was a spontaneous expression of utter joy, and completely harmless. To call it assault is to trivialise the word and an insult to everyone who has suffered actual sexual assault.  I hope those bitches are proud of themselves for poisoning thair own achievement.

Hernan Carrasco was also the coach of the El Salvador national team from an older season still alive (1965-67 and 1970), I believe that this position now belongs to the Argentine Hector Alfredo D'Angelo (1972), although I have not been able to confirm that he still alive, if he had died it would be Salvadoran Mauricio Alonso "Pipo" Rodríguez Lindo (1973-74,1979-82)
