msc 18,443 Posted May 8, 2022 Got the BAFTA fellowship (their lifetime achievement award). Did a recorded bit to camera. Not at deaths door but his illness has progressed a fair bit in the last 2 years and there was a few moments where he was struggling for words.

Just been catching up on the BAFTAs and he's definitely deteriorated. Caught some of the 'Billy Connolly does...' series on Gold recently and he seemed much worse than on that, he's clearly got less control now. Cruel disease for someone whose comedy was often so physical.

DCI Frank Burnside 3,887 Posted August 19, 2023 Was there a statement or such like from Billy regarding Michael Parkinson ? Can't seem to see anything. Would be surprising if he didn't say anything

I imagine he would just contact the family directly and going by the Dickie Bird interview its possible he might have spoken to him recently as well.
Octopus of Odstock 2,195 Posted August 20, 2023 Bear in mind that modern media are too lazy to contact anyone for direct memories. They just nick it off Twitter. I've had two tributes published in the online version of a daily newspaper simply because I was one of the first to post a proper tribute to a racing driver on Twitter.

Aye, but they sent him the questions and he took his own time to record the answers, sounded remarkably well considering but given the way his bit was recorded it's hard to judge

The Daredevil 1,189 Posted November 24, 2023 A gut feeling he will be making his debut on the official DL next year, potentially in position 47 or 48. Still think he has roughly 5 years to go though. 1

Not sure why he wants to live somewhere so prone to hurricanes (which could kill him as much as anyone else), but he has the money to fly out when needed I suppose... Extra reason to eventually be considered by the committee!
