Yeah, he's a "BBC obit within 30 minutes of his death being announced" name. Up there with Jesus Gil when it comes to the classic nutjob foreign chairman of 90s football.

I love how Roey Juss immediately assumes Sir Creep hasn't done any research re: obit chances for people.

She even died in a UK hospital!
University of Kentucky that is.

Hope Hurst Lanham, 50, CEO of Hurst Office Suppliers, died Thursday at the University of Kentucky Chandler Medical Center after suffering complications from the flu.  Mrs. Lanham became ill in late January.

She became CEO when her father died in 2011.  His name: Dick Hurst (damn near Dick Hurts...  oh c'mon it wasn't only me who immediately thought that.  Was it?)

A little update on my Generation Game pick New Zealand businessman Sir Owen Glenn:

http://www.nzherald.co.nz/business/news/article.cfm?c_id=3&objectid=11972051

Still fighting liver cancer, lost a lot of weight (which has reversed his diabetes), he had 22 operations, not just cancer-related but also an epidural haematoma.

On the other hand, he has a "globe-spanning schedule" this year.

Sonja Bata at 91.

Businesswoman who founded the Worlds Largest Shoe Museum.

Dunno if that means size 35 or summat, but if that doesn't cause lfn to break cover, nothing will.

Sorry if already posted. Yes, Sir C., it could have gone in Baseball, Hockey or Pizza (if we have a pizza thread). I didn't see it so I picked this one. So sue me.

And a year later his son Ron is found dead in a hotel room from a drug overdose.....

Tower Records on Argyle Street in Glasgow was the place to go. Sadly, they shut up shop and that store has never had a really long term tenant/occupier since.

With the renewed interest in vinyl, Glasgow is begging for a shop like Tower Records again....

From constructing a single structure in Detroit that sold for $10,000, William J. Pulte launched a company (Pulte Homes) that became one of the nation’s largest home builders.  Pulte died Wednesday at age 85, the company announced.

The company, which completed its 500,000th home in 2007 and grew to operate in more than 50 markets, eventually became the nation’s largest home builder through purchasing Centex Corp.

Pulte became a billionaire, earning placement on the Forbes 400 Richest Americans list several times.

Losing important Michiganders always hits home for me.

He actually made his fortune with Waste Management—which he parlayed into Blockbuster, and later the Florida Marlins (MLB) and Florida Panthers (NHL), and lastly into AutoNation.  Anyway here’s an incredibly lengthy obit.

I'd imagine that bawbag* is already on a fair few people's lists. Certainly anyone with a BHS pension. An utter shite of the first order.

*Pinching a Scottish word, because the mood takes me.

Francis O'Connor, former chairman of Harwick Chemical Corp. and a veteran of more than four decades in the rubber industry, died March 27 at the age of 91.

After serving in the U.S. Navy in World War II from 1944-46, he graduated from Canisius College with a bachelor's in chemistry in 1948. He received a master's in organic chemistry from the school in 1952.  He joined Harwick (now Harwick Standard Distribution Corp.) in 1965 as manager of new product development. He moved up to technical director in 1967 and later became vice president of technical.

BTW that's 3 WWII vets I've posted this morning -- only 1 in that thread though.

(Didn't fancy Tammy Faye's thread for this one, before you start!)

Oooooo where is the Jim Bakker vs Jim Baker sweeps I dreamed up?  No time like the present.  As for cabins in Missouri being a safe place for the Apocalypse, to Rev Jim Bakker I say 'Show Me'.
Why would a Reverend be afraid of the Apocalypse anyway ... Hmmmmmmm.
