Is he living in Thailand these days or was he on holiday?

For someone who was put in a hospice a few weeks ago because his wife had to travel on business, he still seems fit enough to be considered able to fly.

so is Martin Crowe really on the brink of death or is this just everyones wishful thinking?

Well, we don't get any news about him, but he has incurable lymphoma (specifically, his follicular lymphoma has turned into a double hit lymphoma*) doesn't write articles (or blog posts) anymore, he can't take care of himself so he is entirely reliant on his wife.

And he doesn't even get someone to update his website.

A former world class New Zealand cricketer and captain, he was recently diagnosed with lymphoma and has bravely won his battle with cancer.

He is now available to tell his story as a speaker, mentor and motivator.

Ouch.

_____________

*Footnote: He claimed that only 5% of DHL patients survive for 12 months after diagnosis. See this article here: http://www.espncricinfo.com/magazine/content/story/810679.html

But he is much younger than the average DHL demographic (they are usually very old with several comorbidities), and newer studies cite slightly longer median survival times. http://www.gotoper.com/publications/ajho/2015/2015apr/clinical-controversies-of-double-hit-lymphoma

Well, I actually thought he would be gone last month, so wouldn't be too surprised if he made it to November.

Martin Crowe was having dinner with friends when he was taken ill. Doesn't sound like he's at deaths door just yet. Typically people in their final days are bed ridden not out having dinner at a restaurant. I think you've all been getting your hopes up a tad too high ! (having said that he will of course drop dead today )

Ugh, I want to change my prediction but I feel like that's cheating, since it was made already, like, 2 days ago. I'll think about it.

Can't do that. I haven't voted yet. I still have to predict he'll go sometime soon. ;-)

Could Martin crowe be the record breaker. We knew there was something special with him surviving so long.

Could well be.My money would be on either him or Bhumibol.

Nah, the fact that Martin has survived this long proves that he's not as close to death as we thought. He will make 2016.

Bhumibol? Maybe.

I personally think it will be a big tease and a woman, so Valerie Harper or Zsa Zsa Gabor (preferably Zsa Zsa because she's a 'big one')

Crowe watch:

He texted Ross Taylor, who broke Crowe's old record:

Crowe also indirectly awards a young talent with a $15000 sponsorship, but is unable to congratulate that talent personally and was "unable to be interviewed" yesterday.

My DDP placement is riding on him. If he goes before Dec 31 it all but gurantees me a top 10 finish and would put me currently in the top 5. If he survives I could still be knocked out of the top 10 before the year ends.

Oh, he'll survive the year. Seemed impossible just a few months ago but it's getting more and more likely. He'll be #2 on my list, right after J-Cartz.

Ah, the long game, with all the twists and turns of a decent five dayer that still comes down to the final ball.

The way he'd doubtless want it, assuming he knew about us.

If he makes it to 2016 everyone will have him on their team. He'll probably become the new Sam Simon.

I think either Howard Marks or Martin Crowe should be number 1 for 2016!

I strongly doubt Sam Simon will be #1 for 2016...

My prediction - he's the new Wilko Johnson.

His cancer will be miraculously cured by Mother Teresa from beyond the grave (her grave not his), further bolstering her claims to sainthood.

If Mother Teresa is involved, Crowe will die quicker than expected, and in terrible pain and agony.
