Speaking of famous kid's books, Twitter reporting that Lois Ehlert, illustrator for Chicka Chicka Boom Boom, and a recipient of the Caldecott Honor Award in 1990 for Color Zoo, has died at 86:

Author and diet guru Gwen Shamblin Lara reported dead with Tarzan actor William Joseph (Joe) Lara in a plane crash.

 

Edit: Also mentioned that multiple leaders of the Remnant Fellowship Church are dead. It's a culty church founded by Lara in 1999.

Never read her books but as a young actress saw her play the part of bombers daughter Tracy in Auf Weidersehen Pet RIP Lucinda

Big name in my country because of her books. Death was mentioned by the yellow press websites even before posted here on DL and was mentioned on the YLE (largest media here) tv news.

I have a relative who has read some of her books.

Finnish author Laila Hirvisaari (formerly known as Hietamies from 1958 to 2004) dead at 83. One of the most known authors in Finland selling over four million copies but not so famous outside of Finland and Estonia. However, some of her works have been translated to English.
