Gooseberry Crumble 5,337 Posted December 17, 2016 Seem to recall someone suggesting Michael Parkinson a few days ago.He is on Graham Norton and looks and sounds fine albeit he is slowing down.Would not bother putting him on the DL next year.Yup that was me! Now that I'm here I will throw out a few other suggestions for other deadpool game's and the official deathlist Thelma Barlow British actress formerly Mavis Riley in Corrie The Duchess of Kent who seems on the frail side especially when compared to other senior royals like her Maj Joan Kennedy of the famous US political Dynasty Geoffrey Palmer British actor latterly "As time goes by" fame Labour MP Ronnie Campbell who recently had a stomach cancer diagnosis Labour MP Dennis Skinner - Surely ones health can only hold up for so long when your so angry?! What about Gerald Kaufman? I think he's a good choice too but I've already mentioned him as a possibility on several threads so I didn't want to become too repetitive! Other names for consideration whilst I'm not in the land of zzzz American actress Stephanie Powers of Hart to Hart fame -could be confusing her with someone else but I think she had lung cancer a few years ago from which she's still in remission I think? Peter Stringfellow owner of Famous Stringfellows gentleman's club in London. Pretty sure he had a serious health scare in recent years. Jane Powell golden era Hollywood star of Seven Brides for Seven Brothers fame. British author Barbara Taylor Bradford aged 83. Lindsay Lohan
The Dead Cow 620 Posted December 17, 2016 Here's a few of the names who I have considered but won't be making my main team for the DDP. Fred Foster - Founder of Monument Records is looking very frail in this photo taken early this year after it was announced that he would be inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame. He's 85 years old and should achieve a QO through Roy Orbison's association with Monument Records. Mary Midgley - Moral philosopher and author of many books including 'Beast And Man' and 'Animals And Why They Matter'. She's 97 years old and I think she would make a good addition to DL 2017, however I have no reason other than age to place her on my main team. Paul Quinn - Lead Singer from Bourgie Bourgie who is reported to have been suffering from a severe form of MS for 20 years. However, there has been no info on him in recent years and would therefore be a risk if you were to select him. Frank Lucas - Former heroin dealer who is the subject of the film American Gangster. 86 years old and confined to a wheelchair after being involved in a car accident many years ago. He has appeared on all of my main teams since my DDP debut but I will be dropping him for next year.

What about Gerald Kaufman? Gerald Kaufman hasn't made an appearance in Parliament since mid-May. I suspect he's at death's door. DL should seriously consider including him. Not sure if DL has ever had a current MP featured before?

John Smith but they picked him the wrong year.Kaufman seems a good choice.I hadnt given him much thought until you pointed out his absence. Also in June his local party was suspended over infighting over his successor. At the time it was speculated that just meant he wouldnt stand in 2020 but maybe they know something we dont.

Sean 6,311 Posted December 17, 2016 I did try and ask ITK political friends about Kaufman's absence, but they changed the subject. Either it's nothing... That is ominous. If he was ok they would have said yeah he is fine he will be back in no time .I am guessing he won`t be back.Question is how long can he not show up to the commons without his constituents complaining. Toast 16,129 Posted December 17, 2016 Found it https://forums.deathlist.net/topic/8630-ideas-and-possibilities-for-2017/?p=283313 Rockhopperpenguin posted on 3 December in this thread: "Kaufman is fine. He won't be standing again and can't be arsed travelling to London to get beat on every vote. More profitable working on his memoirs." Would be interesting to know if this is informed info or just conjecture.
Ulitzer95 12,576 Posted December 17, 2016 Absolute rubbish. The Parliamentary Labour Party would be going mental at such an attitude. They'd force his resignation. MPs don't stay in the constituency because they "can't be arsed travelling". The media would have noticed. I imagine the *only* reason they haven't raised his absence by now is because they've gotten in touch with his office and discovered he's ill.

Kaufman is a party elder and can do what he likes. Believe me it's memoir time.
Ulitzer95 12,576 Posted December 17, 2016 What's your source? The media would have made an issue of it by now. They'd have made an issue of an MP being absent for 2 months, never mind 7. The fact that they haven't tells us there's more to this than simply can't be bothered turning up.He was very active in the chamber at the start of the year then all of a sudden he stopped turning up.

Exactly. If he had thought I am 86 and can`t be arsed traveling around anymore and wanted to put his feet up and write his memoirs he could easily have resigned. His seat is so safe it wouldn`t have mattered. In an interview with the casual politics guy last year he seemed to be very much enjoying still working so I doubt it.Many of the older MP`s almost live for the House. msc 18,436 Posted December 17, 2016 Reminds me that when The Sun published that 10 Laziest MPs article, and then unpublished it because it included a woman on maternity leave. John Rentoul said "these lists always include someone dying of cancer", and I'm still to work out who he was referring to, as I can't think of any MPs dying of cancer between December 2013 and May 2015. Casual Politics guy interviewed Kaufman? He's fucked then!
Sean 6,311 Posted December 17, 2016 The reason the Labour Party have said nothing about him and are changing the subject is to do with a respect for privacy. The press are vultures and say if he is in a hospital or a nursing home or now appears very frail when he leaves his home would intrude on his family. Also Kaufman is from a generation which valued privacy more and tend to keep personal medical info between just family and close friends.I simply dont believe a distinguished member of the house who clearly loves his job would simply change his attitude to parliament. He might not be dying but maybe he is going senile and can`t speak in public anymore.I had noticed in the last couple of years that he regularly read from notes when speaking in the commons. So maybe his mind is deteriorating.Either that or his body is failing and he feels it better to cling onto his seat while his local Labour party is in such a state. charon 4,943 Posted December 17, 2016 Just pointing out you could both be right. He's having to rush the memoirs because he's fucked. That ticks all the boxes about quietness/absence etc .
rockhopper penguin 2,265 Posted December 17, 2016 There's no rush man hasn't done anything for years. Just doing recordings and getting them transcribed. Government majority is big enough to win any vote and anyway Labour don't have points have to make anyhow. But ultimately it's about who replaces him in 2020 and no one wants to rock the boat whcih leaves Gerald with his slippers, comfy chair and Dictaphone.
