So I see!

Damn, that Facebook link is almost tempting...  (but not quite enough, sorry B!) :P

When I tried clicking on the link, it leads to a dead end...

His death will be a somber event, and a reminder of the classic films people used to be able to make before the world got offended by everything. The  PC Police of 2018 would  protest most of the jokes in Dracula: Dead and Loving It

Just spotted Mel Brooks trending on Twitter and thought the worst. But it seems he was trending because of a coronavirus social distancing joke video he made with his son.

Surprised to see how old he is now, many happy returns to him.

Why is Mel Brooks not on the list? He is 94 and has been a HUGE influence on slapstick, satire and theatre comedy.

Maybe if you'd taken the time to use the search function, you'd see he already has his own thread.

Maybe if they hadn't started a thread 1 minute after joining, they'd have seen that.

Because he’s healthy and still somewhat active.

The fact that he hasn’t died this year and is still making occasional appearances is testament to that.

Next.

When Mel’s best friend Carl Reiner died a few months ago, I thought it was very possible that Mel wouldn’t be far behind. So I don’t think it would be out of the question to consider him

Why? They’re not Siamese twins. Brooks has a lot of showbiz friends. Including the likes of Norman Lear and Dick Van Dyke. I don’t the death on one of them is exactly going to push him over the edge, especially when he seems to be fine health wise.

Yes, I think Brooks is one to avoid for the 2021 DL. There is no reason why he shouldn’t make 98. After all, Reiner made it to that age. I feel as though Bob Newhart and Michael Parkinson would be two better 2021 DL picks.

Mel Brooks pays an emotional tribute to  Cloris  Leachman.

Looks like it has fallen to Mel to mark the passing of his generation

Looks like he's capable of stringing several sentences together and trawling his memory when he does.

He might get the last laugh on the committee this year, then
