Who Should Be On The 2017 Deathlist?

Recommended Posts

I would like to nominate the American actress Dyan Cannon for the following reasons:

1. The man who inspired the birth of the Death List was Cary Grant's death. In 2017, we will celebrate the deathpool's 30th birthday. So, it would be a neat idea to include someone associated with Cary as a way to honour him on this special anniversary.

2. Dyan may not exactly be a household name, but she did get three Academy Awards nominations throughout her career so she's not an obscure actress.

3. There are no reported health issues, but I think we could spare one spot on the list for one "symbolic" entry (see 1st point). Also, at age 79, she's no spring chicken!

4. Since Magere's mysterious disappearence, the only administrator who, well administrates, this forum is Paul Bearer. Including Dyan would also be a way to honour him for his committment, How? Well, one of Dyan's Oscar nominations was for a 1978 movie called Heaven Can Wait. And as we know, that was Paul's previous account name.

Good job presenting her... except that this is actually going to be the 31st anniversary of deathlist, not the 30th.

2017 will give us the 31st list and therefore the 30th anniversary.

I'm glad that so far your not prioritising Olivia De Havilland as I've got a feeling she's going to make it until she's at least 102.Shes in better fettle than Kirk Douglas imo.

This is a good top ten, however, I don't feel like the top 5 will all be terminally ill. I feel like Zsa Zsa is the new Ronnie Biggs, which is why I think she'll be #1.

She could well be number 1 and that would not be a bad call.My argument would be that she is not terminally ill and thus has the capacity to outlive her terminally ill rivals.

Was surprised to learn that actor and director LQ Jones is still alive, turns 90 next year. Probably best known for appearing in various Peckinpah movies and numerous westerns, but was also in Casino and The Edge among many others

Some excellent picks in there although Val Kilmer has denied publicly he has cancer for what it's worth

I like Betty and hope she doesn`t die but she is nearly 95 now.Well do you believe Val Kilmer is telling the truth?I don`t!

I feel as confident in Val Kilmer being in better health than reported, as I did back in December 2012 when I said Reg Presley and Hugo Chavez shouldn't go on the Deathlist because they probably weren't that ill, and I was confident of that one.

I have no idea what to make of Val Kilmer to be honest with you! His public correcting of Michael Douglas on the cancer claim was definitely put across as giving the impression of being "definite"

Listen to his voice when he was saying it.It has a wheezy rattle at the back of the throat.I knew a guy who had throat cancer and it sounded the same noise. If it is not throat cancer what is it?A swollen tongue as he claims it is would not lead to that cackle in the back of the throat. He sounded like Anthony Hicks.Throat cancer has a distinctive sound.

By Deathlist standards could Helen Fawkes and Steve Hewlett be eligible? I mean any BBC figure can expect extensive media obituaries even if their death is unexpected (e.g Komla Dumor in 2014).My point is yes both have terminal cancer but if they dropped dead without warning their death would still be expected to be covered in the UK media? So does that make them eligible?

I'm looking at my people who should be removed list, and I'm not regretting any names there... except surprisingly Stan Lee. I'm not saying that in a way that says he's frail or has an illness. I keep thinking him over and over because he is the creator of some of the most iconic superheroes of all time.

I know certain political figures would be too big too miss (and people like the surviving beatles once they're old enough), but would Stan Lee class as a person too big to miss? He is still very popular to this day.

I don't think he's that widely known, except to people into comic book stuff. I mean, I'm aware of the likes of Batman, Spiderman etc but I wouldn't read comics about them or go to see any of those films. I don't know who created any of these figures and I suspect I'm not alone.

Stan Lee is an undiscussed legend. If you say Steve Ditko I could agree with you, but almost everyone knows Lee.

I see I haven’t been able to persuade you of the merits of 96 year old aristocrat The Dowager Duchess of Grafton.....

She did cross my mind but I ran out of spaces.

I think Shaun has come up with some very good choices there.

How about Peter Sarstedt. I know he's only 74 but he is in a retirement home and suffers from Progressive Supranuclear palsy, a degenerative disease with a myriad of nasty symptoms.

Raymond Briggs and Colin Dexter feel like deathlisty picks as well.
