Who Should Be On The 2017 Deathlist?

Recommended Posts

The lack of any news from her family or representatives is ominous.Strikes me as a Joan Rivers type situation.

Rivers died a week after the situation occurred, so maybe Carrie Fisher will make the starting line.

She probably doesn't have that long afterwards as well.

If Carrie makes it out of this alive it really will be a Festivus miracle. She was on a really long London-LA flight, if her heart attack had happened literally 5-10 minutes earlier she probably would have died on the plane.

Too early to say whether or not to put Fisher on the list.I dont think she will be on DL 2017 as she will either die within the next week or be out of danger.

I'll assume you are younger and haven't begun to lose friends or relatives to heart disease etc. Let me assure you if it took 15 minutes just to get a heartbeat she's no longer the same person. To be fair you may be perfectly correct that she can slog through 2017, but 2020 is out of the question. Hedge your bets any way you like.

I meant danger of dying not of quality of life. She probably has brain damage.Question is whether she will be physically stable enough to undergo heart surgery.I think she is going to die in the next few days though. There have been lots of heart problems in my family but have only come across one person who was revived though. As they where only in cardiac arrest for a minute or two at most there was no brain damage.I think after ten or 15 minutes it is usually very dodgy indeed.

Fabrice Muambas heart stopped for 78 mins when he collapsed on the Tottenham pitch. Medical help, admittedly, a heart specialist, who happened to be in the crowd kept him alive.

He has no brain damage.

Its pure speculation to suggest that she 'probably has brain damage' and, even for here, a tad distasteful for some to be talking about her as somesort of fucking points score when she isn't dead but in a serious condition.

She had a nurse and a Doctor on the flight, apparently, and modern aircraft carry considerably more, in terms of first aid, than a plaster and an eye patch.

Muamba was an exception to the rule and was also an incredibly fit and young athlete whereas Fisher is not.I sincerely hope she doesnt have any brain damage and that she gets well as soon as possible.I want her to be ok and as a fan will be upset if she dies.I am just being realistic.I dont mean to come across as distasteful.

78?

Not buying it.

Need to google, but ambulances etc at ground, no way 78.

Fisher on the other hand, will be fucked, BT is in no way pickable.

Lawler is a far better outlier. In his 60s, heart attack, heart stopped for X minutes, saved by medical staff. Making gags about it within a week.

Of course he didn't do drugs or alcohol, and happened to have his right next to a top class cardiac ward.

Well that's what they reported as fact, and I didn't believe it either!

His heart stopped for 78 mins before they managed to get it restarted.

I think he spent quite some time on the pitch being stabilised ( I was watching the game when it happened ) before being taken off to Hospital.

I wasn't having a pop at you Shaun, it was aimed at the Roey Jusses of the forum who seem to positively masturbate in anticipation at somebody dying.

Yeah, its a forum about death but some need to show a bit of class about it, right?

I hope she is and proves everyone wrong.Who are you to say she doesnt deserve to?Yes she has not lived a healthy lifestyle but she has struggled with mental health issues for many years which I dont think you can dismiss. She sorted her life out and I respect her for that.

Shaun, were the mental health issues down to her junkyness or the other way around?

And her book re Ford...fired out the affair regardless.

Arrogant.

Normally it is a chicken and egg scenario.

Not when it is regarding a 'Child of the Stars'.

She does come across as a boot.

To be honest, I would be kind of surprised if there aren't any other musicians on the list besides Glen Campbell because of the amount of them dying this year.

Sara Coward probably has months to live,as an American I have no idea how famous she is in the UK but figured if she meets the fame level requirements would be a safe hit for the deathlist 50.

So there's 39 survivors (as it stands) of the 2016 list. Now I'd guess Mary Tyler Moore, Tommy Chong, Doug Ellis, Sandy Gall, Robert Pirsig, Lester Piggott, Gazza, Gordon Banks and Murray Walker are getting dropped, based on previous trends.

We can also safely guess that de Haivlland, Graham, Wouk, de Cuellar, Douglas, Sallis, Prince Philip, Clive James, Joost, Bush Sr, Vera Lynn and Jake Lamotta will keep their usual spots.

Then we have folk are clearly tottering or ill enough to warrant a return: Leslie Philips, Glen Campbell, Desmond Tutu, Bruce Forsyth and Jacques Chirac, imo.

That's 17 spots, meaning the last eight returnees from 2016 will be eight from the following thirteen:

  1. 9 44 3 Richard Adams 96 Watership Down author
  2. 17 3 James Randi 88 Magician / Skeptic
  3. 18 2 Lord (Peter) Carrington 97 UK Politician
  4. 20 27 4 Bob Dole 93 Politican
  5. 22 1 Prunella Scales 84 Sybil Fawlty
  6. 23 1 Jimmy Carter 92 Ex US President
  7. 24 34 5 Henry Kissinger 93 Diplomat
  8. 32 8 Fats Domino 88 Singer
  9. 37 3 Stan Lee 94 Marvel comics
  10. 41 33 4 Denis Norden 94 Comic / TV Presenter
  11. 43 1 Jimmy Greaves 76 Footballer / pundit
  12. 47 3 Stephen Hawking 74 Theoretical Physicist
  13. 49 1 John Noakes 82 Blue Peter Presenter

Interesting topic. I'd agree with the first 17, they'll be returning. Also agree with the folk being dropped.

Now to figure out the remaining 13:

I would list Norden as a safe bet, so he would make 18. Now to find the other 7.

As a former US President, Jimmy Carter is probably not getting dropped. He's number 19 to return.

I don't know how likely they drop folk in the top ten unless it's like Wilko Johnson who was ill but got the wrong type of cancer, so Richard Adams is probably #20.

Then we get to a point where we kind of have to guess the remaining five, so I'm guessing:

Peter Carrington

Bob Dole

Fats Domino

Stan Lee

John Noakes

IMO Carter stays on via ex-POTUS status, Domino so they don't risk another Patrick Moore, Adams/Carrington for age, Norden just "feels" like a pick the DL will cling onto till the end. Guess Greavsie, Scales, and Noakes after that by virtue of all being in clear ill health, but those final three are more of a wash.

If Ginger Baker and John Wetton aren't on the list, they oughtnt draft the list.

Mel Tillis and Willie Nelson are legit picks. I could go on but little need.

Yeah, I'm wondering who is the committee choosing after the 25 returning from last years list, because to be honest, I'm not sure.
