I guess a return of the same kind of cancer indicates that it's a relatively aggressive tumour (confirmed by its spread). And there's a higher chance it might be resistant to chemo the second time.... at least that's what I think.... Mad Hatter has linked some material about metastatic breast cancers and their dismal prognosis + limited treatment options. In short: Most of the time, cancers that have spread so far away from the original site (the sacrum is at the base of the spine) are very hard (in most cases, impossible*) to cure. Even if they remove all apparent/visible tumours, use chemo+radiotherapy etc. the cancer will usually stay/recur/spread and ultimately kill its host. (*Some cancer types [like testicular cancer] can usually be treated successfully even if they spread – but unfortunately, most cancers are considered to be incurable at that point.) 1 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

I love Livvy, she's done a lot for cancer charity and awareness in Australia (my sister did a bit of The Great Wall Of China sponsored walk thingy) and she's always seemed like a really lovely person. I hope she pulls through, but will definitely be keeping an eye on news about her.
