His Wiki page is interesting on his health - some recoveries credited by his wife as down to Kris's habit of getting a second opinion.

Also, he's chosen the words for his tombstone which are the opening lines of Leonard Cohen's Bird on a Wire

Like a bird on the wire
Like a drunk in a midnight choir
I have tried in my way to be free

I see what you mean. But those two take years to die of.

Would need something a bit more terminal to warrant inclusion I'd think.

Kristofferson's long term keyboard player Donne Fritts has died according to Twitter.

Probably best known in the UK for co-writing Breakfast In Bed by UB40 with Chrissie Hynde: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IKG3ykRMGiI

IMDB: https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0296013/

Ooof, I'd hate for the poor guy to be remembered for a monstrosity like that.

Co-wrote this classic, sang by Waylon but beautifully covered by Green On Red. Both Dusty's and Baby Washington's versions of Breakfast are great. Fuck UB40 to hell :)

Kris Kristofferson has retired, according to a statement from his PR director.

In fact, the "Help Me Make it Through the Night" star and legendary songwriter seems to have stepped away from the music business without fanfare in early 2020, with his last performance taking place in January of that year on the Outlaw Country Cruise.

Kristofferson, now 84 years old, has transferred the management of his estate and independent label KK Records to his son John.

Made an appearance at JLL's Country Hall of Fame induction ceremony this week (and met him at Jerry's home). One of the pictures:

He’s got a long wait ahead of him in the Radar line behind Joanne Woodward.

Is the "Sad Last Days" thread worth being brought back?

I've got him in the ABC pool, so he'll be fine for the next year at least.

He’s been a staple of team Gris Gris since it’s inception, and we didn’t even know he had any ducks.

Damn.

Loved him in the Blade films.

His death means that Willie Nelson is the last surviving member of The Highwaymen. Waylon Jennings, Johnny Cash and now Kris all gone.

Team Gris Gris is miffed that they didn’t send their team in this year.  RIP — KK was a real man’s man.  No—not like that…
