5 pointsAn elderly Japanese lady and John Lennon's wife die on the same day. I think there might be a Venn diagram in there somewhere.

3 pointsI am so tired of reading this. Does this guy hold the record for the number of threads in which his death has been announced? Thank God he wasn't Belgian.

1 pointGuess the only real winners were Boris Johnson and Ed Balls... My MP is Vernon Coaker (shadow defense sec') and he would have torn David Cameron to shreds had he been in Ed's shoes. What a shame this Wallace and Gromit look-a-like is not going to produce a major outright win. Also can't understand how elder brother David lost to this geek guy. Even International Rescue can't help him now... For me, I loved the three gals standing on the glass ceiling, rarther than never breaking through it. In truth it's all a big ploy to take the heat off Mr SamCam. If only British Politics were fair then all would be good in the garden.

1 pointI know, I wasn't serious either, I was just feigning some indignation, imitating our beloved diabetic guest.

1 pointA guy at work was talking about the election today he seems to think Ed Milliband will be another Neil Kinnock . I'm predicting another lib dem / conservative coalition , cons short by 10 to 12 lib dem will retain that amount of seats (they're actually people still dumb enough to vote for them) and the status quo will always be favourable to politicians.

1 pointSchuller's death means I've nabbed 7 DDP hits in not even four months, which isn't bad at all especially considering that was the same amount I got in the entirety of last year

1 pointChampion gurner Anne Woods, who won the World's Ugliest Woman competition twenty eight times has died, aged 67 . What's the deal with the ring-shaped thingy? Why would anyone with a sense of dignity enter these competitions in the first place? We don't have such in Sweden, we're much to beautful for that. ;) The ring-shaped thingy is horse collar; tradition dictates that the gurner inserts head through the collar and gurns. It's a traditional Northern English pastime popular with both sexes. I don't think dignity is uppermost in the minds of the participants. While many Swedes are beautiful, I reckon this bloke could give it a good go

1 pointGuess there's no telling who gets an obit in this country *sigh* Gary Dahl made the BBC. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/32150059 There's a bit of a grey area here, though I think DDP rules make clear where the points currently lie. But, you could argue that some "local" papers produced in cities around the UK - notably Belfast and Edinburgh - are written full in the knowledge they are sold over the counter in London and, consequently, some of the news is collected and tweaked on that understanding. Bit dubious how "national" such papers are, but I thought I'd throw the curve ball into the debate just in case.

1 pointDavid Foster's wife and Gigi Hadid's mum. David is music producer/composer. Gigi is a model. Yolanda is on the real housewives of Beverly Hills. I think I may watch too much TMZ...

1 pointNot if he gets back for another full term. 10 years without a majority. Lucky bugger. That's politics. John Major was seen as a failure, yet he was 6+ years PM and got the largest vote ever in 1992 with 14 million votes. More than Thatcher, more than Atlee, more than Blair, more than Churchill. Think it would be much fairer to compare largest vote on percentage terms (since the war for ease) given the massive fluctuations in turnout and population: Eden 1955 - 49.8% MacMillan 1959 - 49.6% Wilson 1966 48.0% Churchill 1951 - 48.0% Attlee 1945 - 47.7% Heath 1970 46.4% Attllee 1950 - 46.1% Wilson 1964 44.1% Thatcher 1979 43.9% Blair 1997 43.2% Thatcher 1983 42.4% Thatcher 1987 42.2% Major 1992 41.9% Blair 2001 40.7% Wilson Oct 1974 39.2% Heath Feb 1974 - 37.9% (or Wilson Feb 1974 37.2% if we're only including PMs) Cameron 2010 36.1% Blair 2005 35.2% The trend is pretty clear, our electoral choices have massively diversified with 1974, 1983, 1987, 2005 and 2010 elections being clear indicators of this. For a government in our country to have any legitimacy at all we need a reform in voting system otherwise were stuck in this situation where more than 50% of the country can vote for a left-leaning party but the Tories get in (1987, 1983). Problem is with the electoral system being designed in a way that the two parties who would never push through that reform, or be interested in convincing people of why that reform is necessary, are going to eternally govern us. My personal suggestion would be for all parties that support voting reform to start hammering the benefits to people now and stand unity candidates in 2020.

1 pointI don't remember any of those. Reference to IMDb reveals a sitcom called All In Good Faith, starring Richard Briers as a Reverend Philip Lambe which could be what you're thinking of. Ran for three series in the 80s. Does anyone remember Frank Skinner's foray into sitcomland with Blue Heaven and Shane? The former is apparently available on demand from 4oD; might have to revisit that. Yes that must be what I was thinking. Maybe I thought my title was better. Jim Davison was briefly in a sitcom. He used to stand outside his door and he broke the fourth wall. Elephant & Castle? Up the Elephant & Round the Castle; ran for three series and spawned a sequel, Home James!, which ran for four. So not brief enough.

1 pointLet`s not be unduly pessimistic. Most of this list are in terrible shape. Leslie Phillips appears on his last legs ,Sam Simon is clearly very ill and on borrowed time.Zsa Zsa Gabor and Billy Graham are still clinging on but are both very weak.Castro Douglas Healey LaMotta ,Reagan and Dole have looked very frail for several years and Bhumibol ,George H.W Bush and Havelange are regular ambulance chasers. As for the others they are all either incredibly elderly or have been very ill for a long time. This still remains a strong list.

1 pointTree planted in memory of George Harrison killed by...beetles. Can't help thinking Monty Python loving George would have appreciated the irony! http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-28417341

1 pointThe title of this thread is "Beatles death curse", this implies that this thread is about Beatles or people associated with the Beatles who die early/tragic/unexpected deaths, not people associated with the Beatles who died natural deaths at the age of 95.
