The Scottish spirits let him know. Second sight, you know? Here's a whole exorcism of them.

The latest on Colin Meads is that that Te Kiri Gold Water alternative cancer cure (and you're going to be stunned here) doesn't work. I know, I was shocked too. Not to worry, he's going to keep taking dilute hypochlorous acid, just in case. As for White Van Zan (-dvliet? oh suit yourself), he seems confident he'll see a charity match on June 3rd.

I'm up and through the DDP selections regularly. Caught my attention because she was known as Jayde but listed as Jessica.

Looks like Charles Evans' Wiki page was eventually updated too with some death info. He went in 1996.

Just finished reading a biography of Ringo yesterday and there was a curious little aside regarding his All Starr Band tours and the various musos in each line up. Our man Ringo - a reformed druggie and recovering alchie - has apparantly been instrumental (heh heh) in bringing about the reformation of others. Having toured with him and been impressed with Ringo's functionality Dr John put himself into rehab whilst Dave Edmunds got such a shock when he had a medical to check whether he was insurable as an All Starr Band member that he - too - cleaned up his act immediately. Others have simply ended a tour with a resolution to moderate their behaviour and acted accordingly.

Vonnegut had a wonderfully mean-spirited FOX obituary: This pissed off a lot of folk I know at the time, but hey, when I saw it, I thought: man, they really hate this guy. I need to read his stuff NOW! And, it's great. So it goes! Slaughterhouse Five is the standout, but Timequake, Man without a Country, etc, all recommended.

Bill Sutherland, a Canadian ice hockey player for the Montreal Canadiens (1962-1963), Philadelphia Flyers (1967-1968, 1970-1971), Toronto Maple Leafs (1968-1969), St. Louis Blues (1971) and the Detroit Red Wings (1972), has died aged 82. He scored the Philadelphia Flyers first ever goal, and after playing he began coaching the Winnipeg Jets.

I prefer the bar to be set high, the more non-famous picks excluded the better as far as I am concerned.
