This is all too suspicious... There had to be a motive behind it to hold an emergency meeting in the middle of the night. In terms of sweepstakes, I will take April 21, 2019. I don't think he's really in such bad shape, and retirement will only better his health. All that waving must have been terrible for his arthritis!

Why announce this now? Surely they could wait until after the election if he's going to carry on until autumn? Also why announce it at 3am in the morning?

Hmm. One suspects this will become a busier thread within the next year then.

Typical something big may have happened today when I was in London *yesterday*. I could have had a nosey outside Buckingham Palace (plus it's a Pokestop so that's handy as well). I've been up all night too so don't want to fall asleep and miss all the excitement. If it's not Brenda or Phil The Greek, I wonder what's happened? I'm thinking one of the corgis has rabies and savagely bit Theresa May yesterday. It would be sad news about the corgi obviously...

The ever sanctimonious and condescending Tom Bradby will be anchoring ITV's election night coverage. Meanwhile, anyone with a brain cell will be watching what is highly likely to be David Dimbleby's final general election on the BBC.

He is 95 FFS and will only retire at 96 - most people retire at 65 - 70 and are dead or in a retirement home by 95 only able to walk with aid of a zimmer frame. At some point if he lived to 100 he would only be able to fulfil duties being pushed around in a wheelchair and there is simply no need for him to do that when he has a family full of people capable of cutting ribbons (although someone will have to step up to the plate on the casual racism). So for sure he is going to die soon, he's 95, but the only thing that gives food for suspicions about his health is the urgency with which this has been done. Anyhow he's not even retiring until the autumn so I'm not panicking about my inverse dead pool team yet.

Oh they are all useless he he. Semantics? That's exactly what politicians do! Remember NI contributions? "Oh we won't raise them, oh we didn't mean those NI contributions, oh shit the public have got us, fuck fuck fuck, let's have an election" - semantics. So when she says no rise to VAT, I do and I don't believe her. On a purely semantic level of course.

Bloody hell! I just looked that up because I remembered that Tim Rice was the lyricist for that musical, and I didn't think it was a Lloyd Webber show. It was Benny & Bjorn from ABBA! I never knew that. [disclaimer - I dislike musicals.] AND I have also just learned that Murray Head is the brother of Anthony Head from Buffy the Vampire Slayer and those cringingly awful Gold Blend ads. (I bet everybody else already knew that)
