Just got back from seeing Nick Lowe at the Dakota Jazz Room in Minneapolis. He's in fine form. Performed an hour and a half long solo acoustic set with 2 encores.

I had been hoping for a full recovery for her, but now that you've rekindled such an unpleasant memory, I'm not so enthusiastic.

Long overdue thread for Time Lords discussion. It really shouldn't be overdue, lets face it, if one can time travel that ought not to happen. ETA: Don't get me wrong I was a huge fan of Asimov and Clarke as a teenager and am still quite fond of Ronald D Moores' reboot of Battlestar Galactica, at least until it got stupidly spiritual/religious towards the end, not to mention Stagate SG1 which is an absolute riot in places. It's just that as an adult I never got Dr Who. Maybe I should have, but it is what it is.

Is this the first instance of someone starting a thread on a subject matter they have no intention of ever participating in and no interest in discussing on DL? I guess we have to thank the Not-We for giving us a new home... Anyway whilst the new series continues to disappoint my old series marathon brings me to Dalek's Master Plan - wish me fucking luck....

ftfy It's not that it's on the forum, this is right and proper, it's that it overwhelms a generic thread about other programmes that might be of interest whilst there is a more appropriate thread that would allow those precious few of us uninterested in it to avoid trawling through it whilst looking for something else.
  8. 2 points
Indeed. Why not create a thread specifically for Doctor Who so that the rest of us can avoid it completely ?

I think the meat and bones of the DDP will have to change. My two-year run was about sorting the front-end out, and I'm confident over the next six months we'll have nailed everything about the CMS and the site's design (still playing around with fonts tbh). One problem is that T-Mib handled everything alone for so long that a lot of the processes are listed only in his head, which is why I'm spooked that as soon as I try and generate the pages for this year we're going to see an utter shitshow. There have been something like 15,000 celebs picked for the DDP in its entire history. Every single one of those is in a database. Do we really need to know that, say, Ronald Magill was born in Hull when he's not been alive for 12 years? No, but the way everything is set up now means that the system cannot be changed. We will have to start from scratch.

Come on mate, there's a time and a place. The time is whenever you like, and the place is right here:

Kevin McIntyre is a duet for me and drol which is worth 17 points each. As for Syed Ashraful Islam, 11 points will go to Allen Kirshner, Cancerous Hatred (yes, he’s back), drol, and msc. This competition is going underway now...

You can attend his funeral but it will take 3 connecting flights.

I believe there is an Inverse DP as well coming up soon.

Final DDP update of 2018, a full round-up.

I think this come down to 2 things. 1. There are 3 topics DJL will reply to at length in most threads, but don't worry, Catholicism Scandals are due a comeback soon. 2. Most modern TV is shite so folk are mostly relying on the same old stuff. Or Netflix. Hence Who comes up a lot because beyond the geeks, randomers like LFN bring it up (because they fancy Jodie Whittaker). Killing Eve was great, Trust was reasonably good, and I quite liked Richard Osman's House of Games thing. Three recommendations from the last 12 months = a golden age, practically. Bah and humbug. Mind you, should have guessed when the writer apparently understood Ordeal better than Christie herself...

Resolution was like the rest of Series 11. It was fun to watch but there is no plot and some painful exposition.

I'll write much more detailed thoughts when the DDP site is sorted and you guys have time to read them, but in the interest of sparking discussion. I honestly think - given the enormous size of the DDP in comparison to virtually any other deadpool - a move towards a committee of helpers from this forum (and elsewhere if necessary) working through cloud software if possible to put together the entries and process them would be, I know @msc mooted something similar in the discord on NYE. There's probably many on here who would be willing to contribute to making sure the DDP survives and taking the burden off the poor game-runners during the entry period, but simply cannot for whatever reason commit to running the entire game. Whilst I can be sure the DDP has a somewhat more efficient/complicated system (I vaguely remember TMIB mentioning excel lookup tables) than the basic spreadsheet system I use for Hares or the word document masterlists some folk round here use, it still took the equivalent of at least 2 (possibly more, it wasn't done in one go) working days to process the meagre 43 entries I had for this year and score up the entries I had for last year - so it must take up a lot of time fitting the DDP round real life commitments and as you say send you insane with the process, I honestly don't understand how you guys manage to process 593 entries even with assistance when your running the DDP without noping out or breaking down, it's a Herculean task (even sending the thank you emails alone is that) that really shouldn't be left to 1 or maybe 2 people on a good year. This may well be one of those cases of many hands make light work, if we can design a reliable workflow system so many hands doesn't fuck it up (stuff to avoid people adding names in that have already been added by other people, .and there's cloud software around now that wasn't around when the DDP started which might help - whether they can in anyway be utilised without breaking the website I leave to those with more technical knowledge.

Looks like the committee scored a beauty with this pick Could say they’ve got a real ‘keeper’ on their hands Guess I’m gonna ‘strike’ that one down as a death A real ‘Premier’ pick right there The committee clearly have a ‘goal’ in mind Thank you and goodnight, with love, BBB

This is likely the death notice for Brunetta Barnett. If it is, she died April 10, 2007. https://legacy.suntimes.com/obituaries/chicagosuntimes/obituary.aspx?n=brunetta-bernstein&pid=87312868

The Bill raises a serious question of defining a soap opera - for ease "soap opera" status will be granted to any show which ran in soap format for part of it's run. Continuing dramas that would generally be lumped in as soapy will be granted (your Casualty, Holby City's of the world. I'll put a list below, but that list is open to expansion by the general wisdom, as well as narrowing by the general wisdom. It should also serve as useful researching starting point for deadpoolers with better things to do than actually watch soap operas (allegedly).... In other news i just realised why no-one else had started this deadpool.... Initial List of TV and Radio Programmes Accepted Good luck find picks for half of these let alone obitable ones but best to be as comprehensive as possible: *note because I don't have an unlimited life-span this list is limited to the UK. USA, Ireland and Australia (TV only bar Blue Hills). Other countries (and Australian radio) can apply for inclusion: Not exhaustive ^see above, deliberately lenient to give you more to pick from:

I think he has and few years left in him. I think he's talking about how his health has started to decline noticeably to him.

The first scoreboard is up with Team Bubba leading with the first hit after being the only team to not score in 2018. What’s intriguing is that Cancerous Hatred is back this year, so may be another tough year for us. Good luck all...
