Wes "Wes" Madiko, known outside of Africa as a one-hit wonder for the summer hit of 1998 "Alané", dead at 57: https://newsclic.info/necrologie-wes-madiko-est-decede/ I kind of wondered if he was destined for an early death after the deaths of Manu Dibango and Mory Kanté last year.

Thread for John Williams, born 1932, not just any composer, but possibly the best-known film composer of all time (Even Morricone barely a tie?). He scored Star Wars, Jaws, Close Encounter of the Third Kind, three Harry Potter movies, Superman, Indiana Jones, Home Alone .. and many more... Sadly, he's been recently hospitalized and was forced to cancel an event: https://www.bbc.com/news/entertainment-arts-45965645 Note the ominous title: "A Celebration of John Williams In Concert". Concerts for November also cancelled. Also...hey committee!

Interesting one, death notice for Hugh Lowther, 8th Earl of Lonsdale: http://announcements.telegraph.co.uk/deaths/250496/lowther As his adopted son was born by artificial insemination, that son apparently cannot inherit the title. Nobs and their rules, eh?

Now there's an actor who has been quietly great as small but important characters in shitloads going 40 years now and gets very little attention for it. I remember him well as Rory in Hamish MacBeth and it's always nice to see him show up in things.

While reading of the last living WWII Medal of Honour recipient, I decided to check how many Korean War Medal of Honour recipients there are alive. Three, they are: Duane E. Dewey (1931-2021) Hiroshi H. Miyamara (1925-2022) also a WWII veteran Robert E. Simanek (1930-2022) Two have died within the last 10 months, the last one to die was Ernest Edison West, died on 1th of May 2021 at the age of 89. Given after the Korean War, in 2021: Ralph Puckett (1926-2024)

German sociologist, philosopher and university professor Hans Albert, one of the strong critics of the continental hermeneutic tradition (Martin Heidegger and Hans-Georg Gadamer), has joined the Club today. https://www.forschung-und-lehre.de/zeitfragen/hans-albert-feiert-100-geburtstag-3465/ He is a critical rationalist. His works (I read the "Analysis and critics of the religion") do uncover "undiscovered premises as well as new and often fatal consequences" in several worldviews or topics. I would give a lot to know what he thinks about Deathlist.
