American actress, best known for her role as Alice Mitchell, Dennis’s mother, from 1959 to 1963 on the CBS family sitcom Dennis the Menace Gloria Henry died on this day a year ago, aged 98.

No worries @gcreptile. @WEP has set a fairly high bar for "died quite some time ago" . Regarding the date of death, as you said the article which acts as a QO is dated 8th February and mentions "earlier this week". February 8th was a Tuesday, so "earlier this week" should be Monday 7th, or Sunday 6th if you consider that to be the beginning of the week. However the linkedin tribute is dated Saturday 5th. Until proven otherwise, I am going with the date of death as Saturday 5th February, as the tribute gives no indication as to when he died.

Estelle Harris Main Deathlist 2+1 John Key 3+1 Theoldlady 4+1 MariNisia 2+1 @jonnythegamemaster This is your sub1, was there any reason why this should be on your main list? (e.g. someone you selected died before 2022 or was ineligible for being only famous for being old?) I had a quick scroll through your list and didn't see Betty White or anyone I recognised for that purpose! Also on the subject of "died quite some time ago", @Wormfarmer would want to move their lazy arse and start checking their team now and again. It looks like half of them pegged it in January and I wasn't informed

No BBC obit so far. She might be one of the first DL successes not to get one. I actually neglected to choose her as I didn’t think she’d get a BBC obit. Arguably not famous enough in the UK.

Alfred Hitchcock. He died of Kidney Failure in 1980 so there would have been some talk about his health for a bit beforehand. Winston Churchill would have had a thread even when he was prime minister for a second time. He was 78 and obese and then had all sorts of issues before he died in 1965. If I remember from The Crown - A lot of the prime ministers and people in cabinet had health issues in the 50's and 60's. Anthony Eden resigned a few months after the Suez Crisis. He was also addicted to prescription medication due to his stomach issues. A royal family thread would have been interesting - Queen Mary's death, abdication, George VI health status, checking in on the health of the abdicated king (died 1972), Prince Philip's mother (Greece was in turmoil and she lived in a convent there until family moved her to Buckingham Palace until death in late 60's). Oh not forgetting Lord Mountbatten who was assasinated in 1979.

Jennifer Wilson, in this thread for Doomwatch, but better known for her role in popular 70s series The Brothers, has died, shortly before her 90th birthday. She made sporadic TV appearances but was more of a theatre actress. She was the widow of actor Brian Peck, who died last year.

The honourable(!) member for Somerton and Frome is whipless whilst being investigated for sexual harrassment and cocaine use. Honestly, if only he'd hung out in Downing Street it'd likely have gone unnoticed next to all the other lively goings on. If it goes the way most of us likely suspect it will the resulting by-election sees the Tories defending a majority of 19.213. What could possibly go wrong if they risk that?
