9 pointsOk, there is a slight trend from my query so I would follow that and prepare a KoS of UK No.1-hits of the 60's. The ESC-winner-KoS (with almost 70 winning songs) can be postponed until later or next year so that we don't have two larger games running in parallel. That wouldn't be a big problem, but we have all the time in the world, so there's no need to rush. Thanks for your opinions! And now keep on killing and keep on saving

3 pointsOne of those days where the obitwriting took up most my Saturday, haha, so glad to hear it's appreciated. Belafonte was my first obit of this length in some time, iirc longest since the Queen, so definitely crossing fingers whenever it's Carter's time that it's during a dry spell!

2 pointsPeter Mayhew died on this day 4 years ago, aged 74. - Mayhew was diagnosed with gigantism at the age of 8, and reached the height of 7 foot 3 (2.2 meters). - Mayhew's first role he was hired for was as Minoton the robot minotaur in the film Sinbad and the Eye of the Tiger- he got the role after one of the producers found him from a newspaper article about men with large feet (no clue why they chose him for that over his height). The film, however, was released a few months after the first Star Wars film. - Initially, Chewbacca was to be portrayed by David Prowse- who became the man in the Darth Vader suit (with James Earl Jones providing his iconic voice). Mayhew got the role after standing up in front of George Lucas, and Mayhew studied the behaviors of bears, monkeys and gorillas to inspire his performance. - Most of Mayhew's roles following this were Chewbacca, but there were some exceptions. He played a mechanic in the 1978 film Terror, and the villain in 2008's Yesterday Was a Lie. Mayhew even got into voice acting, providing the voice of Susha in the English dub of Dragon Ball GT: A Hero's Legacy. - Outside of Star Wars properties, Mayhew would portray the character in several television shows, ranging from The Muppet Show to Glee. - Mayhew became a naturalized American citizen in 2005.

1 pointOn the 27th April episode of ‘The Rest is Politics’ podcast Alastair Campbell revealed that he had recently participated in the preparation of an obituary for Rupert Murdoch which concluded with them being asked if overall he was a force for good or for bad. Apparently this is a common thing now with public figures but the most high profile example I remember of this recently was the Queen and it appeared she wasn't around very much longer after the interviews took place.

1 pointHad one of these this week, and when I said "hello," I overheard "oh it's the wife." I've been on a family cell phone plan for a couple decades, so this was definitely another call for my dad, so I hung up. You can't just call every woman who answers the Mrs!

1 pointHe was not an actor or comedian. It's a total insult to the dedicated professionals. His life was very sad. He was nearly illiterate and he couldn't even write his name. He was a poor indigent, whose infectious laughter brought him global fame, and whose body was not claimed by family members or friends after his death.

1 pointA lot of these prematurely posted lists include at least 10 of my picks, in a different order to mine. So for the record, I haven’t copied or took note of a single one of these. Although with 2 weeks to go it’s still subject to change. Can we make it deathlist law that all lists need to be PM’d before any pool goes live?

1 pointIndian-born British property developer and polo player Kuldip Singh Dhillon (wiki) dead at 72. Brits on here will remember the big controversy in 2009 when it was revealed that Charles' nickname for Dhillon was "Sooty". Dhillon not only defended Charles but said he was called it by all of his friends and he liked it. Times obit.
