3 pointsThis game is by no means over but I have created a thread for the 2025 version but remember don't post your teams until 1st Jan as they will not count and your picks may be stolen.
-
3 pointsShe's written an article in The Mail saying this wonder drug she's on could stave off the inevitable for months or even years. Unfortunately, the piece is pay to read. I only caught enough of it before it went to subscribe mode. So.

2 pointsReady to do battle and steal those picks from your fellow players Its fast and fun but you need to be on the ball but if you miss a round or two you can join in at any time Basically the aim of the game is to pick 20 candidates from the years 1925-1934.You need 2 from each year and you must have one male and one female from each year. Candidates only qualify if they have a national news article about their death in English and or an obituary. The game does not start until 1 January 2025 (UK Time Zone) and no teams can be posted before this time and will continue until the end of the year. As soon as one candidate from anyone`s list dies the pool will be immediately restarted and it is first come first serve. You can even be a bitch and steal someone`s entire list if you wish. Its a competitive game. The overall winner will be the person with most hits in the year. The pool restarts as soon as a link from the the qualifying article is posted verifying age of the deceased (by their own standard). No two players can have duplicate picks and the age given in the article will be accepted as soon as the article is published and pasted to this site. It has to be decisive at the time the news breaks. If the age they give is different to the year of birth you don`t get a hit unless it is amended before another death that meets the criteria of a hit. There have been a number of cases where two or more deaths break at about the same time. If a later breaking death occurs but it actually happened before the start of the new round you will be awarded the point if you had the earlier death in your team at the point that they died. I will do my best to be fair and even handed. There is no limit to the number of players and you can enter the round at any point. You may even miss some rounds if they are quick. You do not need an admin to confirm your pick if you have a QO to post your next round team but you may be challenged if it in any way suspect.

2 pointsAll richly deserved. Keir Starmer's brother was learning disabled and living in care. He did absolutely nothing to make his death worth celebrating.
-
2 pointsOh my! - that is quite the faux pas. I am actually embarrassed for you. And then to make matters worse, later in the list you managed to spell "Syd" wrong You are having quite the 'mare, mate. I will be surprised if you are able to show your face around here for some time. But don't worry, people will forget eventually. Sure, you might occasionally hear people stifling laughter and muttering "composer" as you pass by, but pay no heed to them. You are better than all of them put together! Anyhow, all good with the team, and Alan Bergman (Lyricist) takes his place on it.

2 pointsDamn that very sad, I forgot that Pat Heywood who played her nurse died too this June, both gone in the same year. RIP
-
2 pointsEh. I disagree. Her overall decline has been pretty slow for someone whose DL thread from 2012 starts with "appears weak and frail in wheelchair". She strikes me as a grade-A coffin tease. At the Oscars three years ago, she couldn't even say "ten best nominees" without losing her train of thought. By comparison, she's fairly coherent here and her voice still isn't especially thin. I don't think there's anything particularly wrong with her beyond the fact that she's old and beat up her body with alcohol and drugs for decades. Which, yeah, means I don't think she'll live another decade+, but given that she's still lucid and plans to release a book (and read it on tape) over a year from now, I think that probably rules out the idea she's suffering from some major unrelated illness.

2 pointsUniques were much easier to find and spot when Yahoo was giving out QOs as easily as they were. If you found a Yahoo link when researching all you had to do was to check if it did the uk trick and there would be like a 50% chance of them getting a QO. However, that doesn't really seem to be a thing anymore and neither of them would most likely QO in 2025. Most of the other uniques I've seen over the years are from very region-based researching that probably wouldn't come up for most, or just obscure shot in the darks.
-
2 pointsI think so.Unique picks are really difficult to find given the number of names selected every year.Plus it's risky to aim for a unique as if they aren't unique and with the increase in the quality of players it's a real gamble.Drop 40 picks on the other hand are not too difficult to predict and you can easily get a majority of your picks to appear on the Drop 40 with far less research and media savvy calls such as exposure of picks and how widespread news of their illness is. In short scouting for unique picks for a one point advantage that is risky and could just give you regular points if your unique isn't actually a unique which is a big and potentially costly risk over Drop 40 near slam dunks it seems not worth the risk for the potential benefit.

2 pointsNow, now. He couldn’t help that his brother is a cunt. I always say families of politicians are off limits and I stand by that.

1 pointI have a few people that are on my list that I am still debating on. They seem to be wasted picks because they do not seem to be in any real danger, except for their age. But a part of me does not want to take the chance of having them as a miss because they are people that are kind of iconic for me. At the same time I think to keep them on am I missing out on others that might be more of a sure hit for the year.Mainly.. Marion Ross 96 Tina Louise 90 Julie Andrews 89 Barbra Eden 93 I think in the end I am just going to keep them.. But if the Pope, Frankie Vallie or Rupert Murdock dies this year I am going to kick myself

1 pointDeathrace Form Guide #14 Luigi Manocchio The 97-year-old former boss of the Patriarca crime family has been said to be "close to the end" for multiple months now, starting from August when there was a "living funeral" type of event for him and Eddie Lato. Manocchio allegedly suffers from quite advanced prostate cancer and was erroneously reported dead back in September. A very low-hanging fruit.
