An Fear Beag 1,535 Posted May 30, 2023 Before I update with the latest hit, a small correction is needed to the scoring. In 6th May I replied to @ThereWillBeDeaths7 to say "Picture bonuses can be claimed at any time, and that is definitely him receiving a prize, so 1 bonus point to you." As TWBD7 was the first (and only) one to post a picture, the bonus should have been 2 points. The scoreboard has been corrected. And so onto Rolf Harris, the joint 3rd most popular pick in this years pool (Only James Whale and the seemingly immortal Frank Field made it onto more teams). Only 4 teams failed to pick Harris with @Gooseberry Crumble, @Pedro67 @Torva Messorand @tracyall losing out on some easy points. Plenty of pictures of sex-offender Rolf receiving plenty of awards from the good and great of Society, so there is more scope for a point or two to be gained (Yes I'm looking at you @theoldlady) He didn't score as highly as he might have, as he seems to have been the only person on all of Wikipedia not to have a section named "Personal Life". (Although given what was going on in his personal life, that's probably a relief). I could only find one autobiography for him, which seems a little odd for someone with such longevity in show-business, but if anyone else can find another, please let me know. ROLF HARRIS +2 Base Point +2 Drop 40 +2 Deathlist Alumnus +2 (Hidden Bonus No. 5: +2 if pick is the only DDP pick to die on that day -2 (Hidden Bonus No. 10: "-2 if the pick has written an autobiography. -3 if they have written more than 1") +6 TOTAL POINTS Hits for: An Fear Beag (Bonus +1 Position 15 on list) (Bonus +1 Picture posted) (Breaks run of hits in order) (Wildcard) Bibliogryphon (Bonus +1 Position 15 on list) (Bonus +1 Picture posted) Book (Bonus +1 Picture posted) (Wildcard) BuffaloPhil (Bonus +1 Position 24 on list) (Bonus +1 Picture posted) (Wildcard) Captain Chorizo (Bonus +1 Position 21 on list) Captain Hemlock (Bonus +1 Position 24 on list) Funeralopolis (Bonus +1 Position 23 on list) Gcreptile (Bonus +2 Picture posted)(Breaks run of hits in order) (Wildcard) Great Uncle Bulgaria (Bonus +1 Picture posted) (Wildcard) LizLemon (Bonus +1 Picture posted) (Breaks run of hits in order) (Wildcard) Marinisia (Bonus +1 Position 23 on list) (Bonus +1 Picture posted) (Bonus +1 hits in order) (Wildcard) Mrs Pedro MSC Perhaps (Bonus +1 Position 27 on list) The Old Crem (Breaks run of hits in order) The Old Lady (Bonus +1 Position 22 on list) (Wildcard) The Unknown Man (Bonus +1 Position 27 on list) (Bonus +2 hits in order) Toast (Bonus +1 Picture posted) TQR (Bonus +1 Position 23 on list) (Wildcard) ThereWillBeDeaths7 (Bonus +1 Picture posted) (Wildcard) Wannamaker (Bonus +1 Picture posted) (Bonus +2 hits in order) No change to the order at the top of the leaderboard. However @gcreptile extends out the lead a little, on account of the speed of picture posting. At the bottom, Mrs Pedro nabs her first hit of the game, to claim bragging rights in the Pedro household. An Fear Beag 1,535 Posted May 30, 2023 For the record @theoldlady, I had a look at the picture you send a link to, and I would not have accepted it had it been posted properly. It is Harris at the British Book Awards, but there is nothing in the picture to suggest that he actually received an award.
An Fear Beag 1,535 Posted May 30, 2023 While we are all here, lets bring this pool fully up to date by awarding points for the more eclectic pick of Dr. Evadne Hinge. Only three players selected the most obscure of this year's drag queen deaths, and all three shall be handsomely rewarded. Like Rolf Harris, Hinge did not have a "Personal Life" section of a Wikipedia page - however in this case it was because she did not have a Wikipedia page at all, a fact which has reaped a fine 5 point bonus. DR. EVADNE HINGE +2 Base Point +3 Unique DDP pick +1 Picked by 3 teams +5 (Hidden Bonus No. 7: "+5 if they don’t have an English Wikipedia page at the time of their death") +4 (Hidden Bonus No. 12: "+4 if 2023 is first year as a DDP pick") +15 TOTAL POINTS Hits for: Bibliogryphon (Bonus +1 Position 16 on list) Great Uncle Bulgaria (Bonus +1 Position 4 on list) Pedro67 (Bonus +1 Position 4 on list) @Great Uncle Bulgariais the big winner in this update hurtling up the leaderboard and into 3rd place, showing that a complete lack of comprehension of the picture rule is no barrier to success in this game. @Bibliogryphonmakes it up into the top 10. At the bottom, Mrs. Pedro's bragging rights did not last for long, as @Pedro67 strikes it big, while @Gooseberry Crumble is back in the familiar surroundings of the bottom. SICK! Glad you did not accept it. Found out the reason I could not post it correctly is that one has to BUY the photo! Crazy! Glad he is dead!

An Fear Beag 1,535 Posted June 12, 2023 Let's tidy up a loose end by scoring the death of John Morris, a unique hit for @Bibliogryphon. Just as well he was unique, as he qualified for no other bonuses other than a penalty for having written an autobiography. As a result Biblio only moves marginally up the table. Perhaps 1,423 Posted June 15, 2023 Gordon McQueen accepting his induction to the Scottish Football Hall of Fame: Hopefully not too late with ROFL Harris. Here he is with his OBE insignia at Buckingham Palace. If this has already been posted, fuck it, I'll take the L. First up with the Gordon McQueen picture - 2 bonus points to you. I see a picture of Harris with an MBE and another of him receiving the CBE, but that seems to be the first OBE picture. No time limit on pictures in this game so help yourself to an extra bonus point.

The point is for a player "who posts a picture of their hit receiving a prize." Judging by the fact that the stadium is completely empty, I am going to go out on a limb and suggest that he is merely posing with the FA Cup rather than receiving it. Can't allow it. To be clear, I have no issue with the FA Cup as a prize, and he doesn't even need to be the captain receiving it. But it would have to be a picture of him with the cup on the day they had won it. Let's try again, Gordon McQueen (behind the cup, with his left arm up) & the Manchester United team winning the FA Cup. It's dark, but you can make out some people in the background + the final took place on a Thursday night, so I'm pretty sure that this was on the day they won it. A hit for three players in total, including me! He will qualify for a few bonuses I reckon, and as far as I can see will not attract a penalty for an autobiography or for re-marrying, although I am open to correction on that. I hope you have more success than I did finding a picture of him winning "Commie of the Year".

An Fear Beag 1,535 Posted July 5, 2023 I think I have given everyone enough time to post pictures, so lets have an update. Keeper of the Trotsky flame, Esteban Volkov, died and has left behind a bucketload of points for the three players who selected him. I haven't done too much research on him, in fear of what Google ads it might generate for me in the future. So if anyone knows about a string of ex-wives, or a library full of memoirs, please let me know. ESTEBAN VOLKOV +2 Base Point +3 Unique DDP pick +1 Picked by 3 teams +5 (Hidden Bonus No. 7: "+5 if they don’t have an English Wikipedia page at the time of their death") *3 (Hidden Bonus No. 8: "+3 if they were born in a country that does not now exist") +14 TOTAL POINTS Unfortunately for @Torva Messor, they fall foul of Bonus 13 for a second time: "-2 if player has two consecutive hits born in the same decade. -3 if a third hit, -4 if a 4th etc" Volkov is the 4th hit for TM, with the last 2 being Ben Ferencz and Al Jaffee, both of whom were also born in the 1920s. The penalties mount up! In addition, when doing the scores, I realised that I had not added the -2 "bonus" to TM's score for the last time - sorry about that TM- it has now been added Hits for: An Fear Beag Captain Hemlock (Bonus +1 Position 4 on list) (Wildcard) Torva Messor ((Bonus +1 Position 4 on list) @gcreptile and @Bookstay in first and place respectively. However, I have moved into striking range in 3rd and @Captain Hemlockhas come from nowhere to sit in 4th, following the Volkov wildcard selection. All to play for in the second half of the year. ThereWillBeDeaths7 722 Posted July 12, 2023 Same problem as the others seem to have is that Kundera rarely showed up for such events, mainly because of health reasons and a complicated relationship with the Czech Republic.
