These lists definitely provide context why people went wild when The Beatles came out, when they changed styles, and when The Rolling Stones came out. I mean, ofcourse I had seen videos and read stories, but having to listen to a bunch of bedroom crooners really made me craving for something new and exciting.

What I didn't expect was how big the faux Hawaiian thing was.

Tears was one of the biggest selling singles of the Sixties. A lot of the comedians in the fifties and sixties came out of the variety/music hall tradition so this was unsurprising
