Still time for Norman Lamont to make it even worse, I'll keep my fingers crossed.

Fisted to death by Julian Clary perhaps.....

Also, I think the DL committee isn't generally interested in filmmakers outside of the ultra-famous ones. Godard seems like their only recent pick in terms of guys who are really only notable behind the camera. They didn't go for Zeffirelli, Donen, Neame, Lewis Gilbert, Peter Brook, haven't picked Corman, Jodorowsky, etc

Has Roman Polanski ever been picked? Possibly the most famous living director, certain to be big news when he goes - albeit much comment will be along the lines of "burn in hell."

He looks very well for 90 in the BTS stuff for The Palace. I think he'll probably have a couple more years in him before he becomes worth DL consideration.

Very surprised by this one. Almost 95 but was doing great some time ago. One of the last big heartthrobs born of the 50s.

Murray was actually a first-time DDP pick this year, despite being an Oscar nominee actor well into his 90s!

Exactly what I'm wondering... Didn't seem to be ill, and the family's statement didn't say so, just that he died in his sleep...

He was just in the Mandalorian... surprising.

My favourite role of his is being himself on Arrested Development though.
