Something to while away the time.

Sexist obituaries:

http://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2015/nov/25/obituaries-show-sexism-follows-women-to-grave

Not as bad as discriminating against Economics Nobel Prize winners, but there's a point.

It's a great point being made. I pointed this very thing out last year when millionaire stylist/fashionista L'Wren Scott hung herself and Rolling Stone ran the headline 'Mick Jaggar's GF found dead', like she needed to be measured as to her status vs a male counterpart. Insulting and degrading. And Sexist.

Look at the link I've provided--see how she is presented in paragraph 1 (some rock star gf) and finally in paragraph 2 (millionaire business owner and stylist for Hollywood stars). It couldn't be more blatant.

Just found this awesome site, useless for DL purposes but you can keep up with some fun reading on U.S. Auto accidents.

I do like the observation that Kirk Douglas and Rasputin's lives overlapped. And John Tyler having a couple living grandkids is still a personal fav.

Reddit thread: Who are you shocked isn't dead yet?

https://www.reddit.com/r/AskReddit/comments/46karl/who_are_you_shocked_isnt_dead_yet/

Lots of usual suspects, maybe a couple of interesting tidbits, like Stan Lee canceling more and more appearances.

Go see Stan Lee thread about your horribly-timed boner of a post. Meh here's a link

Would be surprised if this hasn't been posted somewhere, so please excuse duplication if it exists.

Wiki page dedicated to 'death by selfie'.

Interesting article about what we would say to our dying loved ones if we had the chance, and the conclusion is very little.

At last an escape from the relentless bad news.

Diabetes' deadly march continues and those meddling stem-cell addicted doctors who are messing with our best picking efforts haven't made a dent in the deadly power of type two.

From now on I do all my forecasting by following celebs into fast food restaurants

Has this been posted yet? www.orderofthegooddeath.com and corresponding YouTube channel https://www.youtube.com/user/OrderoftheGoodDeath (featuring the video series "Ask a Mortician" and "Morbid Minute")

Mortician Caitlin Doughty, author of Smoke Gets In Your Eyes and Other Lessons from the Crematorium, is spearheading a revolution in death culture in the U.S. Many of the insane U.S. laws regarding death, body disposal, burial, cremation, etc. can be chalked up to political lobbying by death professionals. Doughty calls for families to be more involved in the actual rituals of death, and pushes for green alternatives (including alkaline hydrolysis).

Yeh, I listened to it twice yesterday , and it was different each time.

Mentioned it in the Pope Francis thread, and it had the myth of the 2012 Olympics, and the later prog had the BBC obit stats.

2012 , first quarter , 5 obits on main BBC page.

2016, first quarter, 24.

The prog updated for Prince pretty much, in written form.

If I remember correctly, the person who keeps this site updated also collects a spoonful of dirt from each of the graves. I submitted the first photo of Phil Stong's grave, and I'm almost certain I sent along a dirt sample. :grave:
