Oh my goodness, this is so sad. I loved her on Come outside as Auntie Mabel with her dog 'Pippin'. RIP Lynda Baron

Is Auntie Mabel a big star in post-Communist Albania then?

I'm picturing TV schedules full of Come Outside and Norman Wisdom films.

Sad news.  I have no knowledge of "Come Outside", but Lynda Baron turned up in almost everything over her long career.

Apart from me no one else knows her here. Come Outside has been my childhood

She were grand in that and all. Sad news. One of those actresses who was wonderfully entertaining, even when the programme perhaps wasn't. Was great to see her show up in stuff like Father Brown in the last decade, too.

Sad news but I did suspect she might have been Ill after she left Still Open all Hours and barely worked afterwards.

Many thought she was not happy with the scripts and she refused to be an older admirer for Granville so Stephanie Cole had that role.

Loving all the fond memories of 'Come Outside', a very fondly remembered show for me too. The one that sticks out is where she wondered where the water went after it went down the plughole and she ended up in a sewer.

One of those lovely ladies who brightened up any show she was on, a really sad loss. If I was artistically minded, I'd be drawing a polka dot plane flying up towards the pearly gates, but I'm not, so I won't. Go well, Auntie Mabel.

For those keeping score (no one), Lynda Baron's death closes the book on regular cast members for Oh No It's Selwyn Froggitt (1974 - 1978).

Is she the first person who was on Celebrity Catchphrase to have died?

A quick glance at the cast list on imdb suggests you are right, although I haven't heard of a couple of the 'celebrities' so I've no idea if they're alive or not...

Absolute wipeout for late 70s/early 80s Britcoms at the moment.

Still think it's mad that the Indian doctor in Only When I Laugh used to be in a band with Freddie Mercury.

After a brief trawl of IMDB and Wikipedia I can find only two surviving actors who have played an onscreen husband to Penelope Keith they are William Gaunt (Next of Kin) and Christopher Villiers (Sweet Sixteen)

Very often she plays widows or spinsters

Weirdly I was listening to The British Sitcom History Podcast on To The Manor Born when I heard the news.

Forgive me, but is this the correct thread? None of those programmes are in any way sitcoms...
