Didn't Richey Edwards play rhythm guitar though?

Yep. Sorry. My source material was wrong.

I would classify Lynott more as a lead singer than as a bassist for this particular comparison. I haven't heard of the others but Burton and Sid Viscious would be the best examples by the sound of it. (Sid Viscious wasn't really able to play the bass in any meaningful way, but still).

If anything, it's the lead singer who dies the first, mostly. Purely the singer so double duties like Kurt Cobain are left out

Freddy Mercury

Michael Hutchens

Chester Beddington

Bon Scott

Chris Cornell

Layne Staley

Ian Curtis

Jim Morrison

Dolores O'Roirdan

Forgot my all time favorite bassist;

Pete Steele of Type O Negative. But he could be confused as lead guitarist. Being 2,04 meters high the bass looked puny in his hands. :-)

Jimmy Buffett discharged.

His tour website doesn’t have any upcoming shows, but he has at least one expected show coming up July 6th in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Either the website is slow in updates, or Jimmy needs some more time to recover from his hospital stay.

That's a really bad diagnosis.  Survival rates for CNS leukemia are poor.  Definitely one to consider for next year.

If he gets there, yeah. Apparently it’s “moving fast” and he’s staying in hospital for treatment.

Really sad.

You could add to the 'dead' list of Kate's associates the actor Gow Hunter (1960-2011), her co-star in the 'Hounds of Love' video.

Julio Iglesias is angry at news sites for lying about his health. Says he feels great & posts a new picture. Turns 80 in September and is writing his memoirs.

Never heard of the late Nick Todd, but At the Hop is a 50s classic, and 5 seconds of research confirmed that Nick had fuckall to do with it. (I am glad I wasn’t around when music was so limited that someone could cover another artist during the same bloody calendar year and have a hit with virtually the same record.)

— At the Hop" is a rock 'n' roll/doo-wop song written by Artie Singer, John Medora, and David White and originally released by Danny & the Juniors (Nick Todd wasn’t in the group). The song was released in the fall of 1957, and reached number one on the US charts on January 6, 1958, thus becoming one of the top-selling singles of 1958. "At the Hop" also hit number one on the R&B Best Sellers list.

I mean the guy was Pat Boone's brother, forgettable covers of contemporary classics is par the course for those guys.

She's 82, presumably another ad for autotune?

Why can't geriatric "pop stars" retire gracefully?

They're worth millions so it must be vanity and narcissism.
