Youth in Asia 1,085 Posted May 24, 2023 I would classify Lynott more as a lead singer than as a bassist for this particular comparison. I haven't heard of the others but Burton and Sid Viscious would be the best examples by the sound of it. (Sid Viscious wasn't really able to play the bass in any meaningful way, but still). Whitehouse 872 Posted May 24, 2023 If anything, it's the lead singer who dies the first, mostly. Purely the singer so double duties like Kurt Cobain are left out Freddy Mercury Michael Hutchens Chester Beddington Bon Scott Chris Cornell Layne Staley Ian Curtis Jim Morrison Dolores O'Roirdan Forgot my all time favorite bassist; Pete Steele of Type O Negative. But he could be confused as lead guitarist. Being 2,04 meters high the bass looked puny in his hands. :-)
