Dead Pop Stars

Recommended Posts

As pointed out in another thread (altough I found a better source), Michael Bolton apparently had a brain tumor. This may explain his strange behavior during the filming I saw at Magic Kingdom back in November, and may explain quite a bit of the other reactions we've seen from people about him in the past few months...

Really sad news. Incredible bassist, and obviously there's the Kate Bush connection too; hopefully it won't scupper any future work as she's worked so close with him for years, plus John Giblin died last year too - not a good year for bassists.

He's got my respect for his charity work, above and beyond his musical work.

Couldn't read the article.  Is he actually sick with anything or suffering from a particular affliction?

Be a shame if he died before finishing that book.

That's a shame. I heard that he had a stroke a few years back, so he was in my DDP team for a bit.

Saw The Specials once after Neville left and really missed him, so decided not to go see them again.  I haven't managed to see his own band though.

For fuck sake. Big love to Neville, hope he rests up and gets well double quick.

Report that Mary Weiss, lead singer of the Shangri-las who had UK singles hits in the 60s and 70s, has died:

Surprised this hasn’t spread more over the news outlets granted the fact that she sang two huge songs of the 60’s

I Can Never Go Home Anymore never fails to make me misty. Though Remember (Walking in the Sand) is my favorite.

RIP to one of the girl group greats :(

Also the Shangri-Las are all gone now.

Isn't Betty Weiss still alive though?

Yes, she is. And she's "only" turning 78 this year.
