Toast 16,137 Posted May 23, 2015 Twinkle is dead: http://hub.contactmusic.com/news/sixties-singer-twinkle-dies_4744371 Twinkle!!! Well, that has made me sad. Jimmy Page played on 'Terry', and Twinkle's other hit, 'Golden Lights' was covered by The Smiths.
DevonDeathTrip 2,358 Posted May 26, 2015 I quite liked this interview with Art Garfunkel, who appears to be becoming increasingly eccentric as the years go by.

Sir Creep 7,070 Posted June 6, 2015 The Voice U.S. season 8 contestant Anthony Riley dead at 28 according to social media. Better in Reality TV thread. No one in the history of The Voice has gone on to any semblance of 'pop stardom' much less Anthony Riley. It's the most useless show on the airwaves, IMO SC

This one was semi-personal so I never thought to post here. Though 52 (next week) I played bass in a couple bands with Detroit musicians 5-15 years older than I, from bands of the same era as SRC, in particular The Sillies. So I met many of these people through those contacts. I saw Gary play a couple times in the past decade but didn't know him apart from that. Still, us Detroit-area music scene folks are a bit of a contingent, and any losses from the ranks reverberate. RIP Gary Q.SirC [Edit: Y-Dub I think we have been putting prog rock stuff here (at least I have lol) http://www.deathlist.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=3234 And SRC was straight up rock n roll despite the song linked. No danger of confusing them with prog rock I don't believe].

YoungWillz 21,037 Posted June 23, 2015 Whilst doing some research for a DDP which need not concern anyone here (until 2016 anyway), I discovered that James "Ajax" Baynard, trumpeter and sometime vocalist with Crown Heights Affair, was killed in a road traffic accident back in February. Search turned up nothing so I'm remembering him here. http://www.soulandjazzandfunk.com/news/3242-ajax-baynard-killed.html Say A Prayer For Two: https://youtu.be/UAdskJfHhfg

maryportfuncity 10,646 Posted June 28, 2015 As a follow up to the exchanges hereabouts a few days ago regarding the selling power of ageing artists, and their high chart positions being based on the fact their fans still buy albums, I noticed James Taylor's 16th studio album released this month is his first US #1. Will Neil Young get the same chart position next week? (he's only ever had one chart topper there before)
