RadGuy 1,614 Posted June 16, 2017 Fucking hell, I knew the Deathlist should have brought him back. Â But I think I dropped him from my Shadow List too, so I can't be a hypocrite.

Grim Up North 3,725 Posted June 16, 2017 Ah to possibly quote Arthur Scargill the Committee should have gone for  'Kohl not Dole'.
Sean 6,311 Posted June 16, 2017 First big miss of the year by the committee.Sad news but at least he isn`t suffering now.He looked very frail in his final years.
Joey Russ 7,220 Posted June 16, 2017 Hopefully they bring back Chirac for 2018 so they don't have to deal with potentially another miss.
gcreptile 10,963 Posted June 16, 2017 The "chancellor of my childhood" (blergh) is gone. I never liked him, though I guess that part of it was just juvenile resistance against authority. At least, he wasn't quite as bad as Reagan and Thatcher. He got German Reunification handed on a platter and mismanaged it somewhat. I guess he gets some respect for advancing European unity, but the Euro came too soon, which is being felt across Europe for a decade now.
RadGuy 1,614 Posted June 16, 2017 This is the FOURTH person to die this year that was on a previous Deathlist, but not this year's. Â Chuck Berry (2012, 2015) Robert Pirsig (2016) Manuel Noriega (1990) Helmut Kohl (2015)

TomTomTelekom 3,727 Posted June 16, 2017 What a shame, that the committee didnt consider such a big Name like Helmut Kohl. Fortunately he was in my personnel DL. Now I have to think about a suitable german Substitute for next year. Â Rest in Peace to one of the most important german politician

I have a feeling that 2017 could be the year of the death of big 80s/90s leaders. Bush ,Chirac and Gorbachev could all be gone by the end of the year
