LovelyVincent 25 Posted February 11, 2022 So far The Queen has announced Camila should be Queen which was one of the main questions about Charles future reign. We've also had a ton of articles about the future of the monarchy and the inevitable end of the Queens reign quite a lot recently... Do you reckon the press know something and are slowly getting the "public ready" whilst the Queen has shored up the Queen Camila thing since it seemed obvious Charles would have gone ahead and made Camila Queen anyway and now he can say "My darling mother wanted it...." Is something in the air and the death knell starts to ring....or like the post 17 years ago predicting her demise was due soon am i just over analysing things... Toast 16,160 Posted February 11, 2022 No. In the UK the wife of the King is always styled as Queen. Any departure from that would have been breaking with tradition.

And the fact that she and Charles have both been divorced is irrelevant. It's nothing new anyway: historically they just called divorce by a different word. One example is Eleanor of Aquitaine, who had been married to Louis VII of France before marrying Henry II. Her first marriage was "annulled" despite producing two legitimate children.

It’s a case of preparing for change in the next 5 years after 70 years of a constant. We are being prepared for her death, but not imminently.

Not only do there seem to be more royal news stories, they seem to be taking precedent over any Corona, Boris or even Prince Andrew stories. Is it a preparation for the Queen's (rapid or slow) decline, or a media blast to distract talks of a certain someone's impending court date which could distract from the jubilee? Brad252 809 Posted February 20, 2022 Well that debunks the theory that they'd keep quiet the Queen testing positive for covid unless it got serious maybe.
Philheybrookbay1 247 Posted February 20, 2022 With all her engagements some of which were Face to Face post lockdowns I’d say she’s dodged a bullet to avoid it until now. Mild symptoms even in a 96 year old won’t be nice but she’ll have the best care going. So she’ll recover.

The perfect way for the Palace to handle it is to only announce that she’s tested positive days after she actually took the test. That way they know her case will remain mild so disclosing her status isn’t a big deal. If she was really ill with it, they’d withhold information, right up until the point she needed hospitalisation. Then they’d be forced to make a statement. We didn’t know about any of Philip’s illnesses until he actually needed hospitalised.

She probably won't die of this, but it's certainly not impossible that it will get worse and she'll deteriorate. Not to mention potential damage of "recovering" with lasting effects - what doesn't kill you certainly doesn't make you stronger when you're knocking on 100. Yes if that logic applied we'd have all been locked down to stop spreading the shits when the Queen had that many years ago (but at least the toilet roll hoarding would have been explained). In the eyes of the tabloid media and tory party base it would be an absolutely terrible look for Boris. As silly as it is, the sentimentalised figurehead having her suffering "ignored" is the kind of thing that sticks in the average voter's mind more than literally the entire country being locked down or ill.
