Britain should be embarrassed.

She does not sound sincere or serious at all

PM speech pretty much confirmed that Charles will be known as King Charles III.

Yeah, Prince of Wales is not automatic. Coronation is a naming ceremony, too. I believe. King Bertie after Victoria is the best analogy, I suppose.

But, yes, the king is the king regardless of what name we use.

Pretty sure she will abdicate at some point. I don’t see her cancelling évents and showing to us all some signs of weakness till she ultimately dies. If this happens, it may either kill her of a sudden or she may last for a few more Time ie Pope Benedict

Well this doesn’t aged well

I don't mean to defend her, but what was she suppose to sound like? If the monarch died 2 days into my tenure as PM, I'd be a bit all over the place too.

Lots on here and on the Beeb saying Truss has confirmed he'll be Charles III. I'd say it's at least even odds that she's had no such direction but hasn't realised there's other possibilities so just ran with it.

Charles has had plenty of time to decide what name he was going to use. He didn't need to spend any longer chewing over it. Still, I know a lot of people were expecting George VII - partly as a tribute to the grandfather he never really knew.

Except that's her default. Because she's way above her station.

Out of convenience, I think Charles is going to go with King "Prince Charles of Wales" the First, a bit like Pope "John Paul". We'll get used to it.

That's disgusting, @Joey Russ.  Have some respect. A lot of us are genuinely heartbroken here.

It's not even funny.

Does that mean we get new money? Or newly printed money will now have Charles face on it?
