I am surprised they didn’t announce the time of her death at the time if they knew it would be published - or did they forget Scottish death certificates have the time of death when English ones don’t. 
 

Also Anne registered the Death not Charles. Would have thought protocol would have been the new Sovereign did it.

 

Pretty much the same time of day as her Mother died.

I knew that theories of her having died at noon were impossible. When the Sovereign dies the Prime Minister has a need and right to know ASAP. And they had told earlier that she was informed at 15:30.

 

Edit. The PM was told only at 16:30! Had they really right to withhold that information so long? But then again, she had been told already by noon that the Queen would die within hours.

 

Second edit. It seems the PM was informed already "early on Thursday morning", well before she gave her energy plan statement at the parliament.

Not really surprising Anne signed it. On the Friday it was signed (the Friday of the lying-in-state), Charles was on a helicopter going to Wales for his first official visit and Anne was in Scotland meeting patrons of charities the Queen was involved with. She was her daughter and present at the death, why does it need to be Charles?

Also not surprising. I know plenty of examples of parents who keep their maiden names and double-barrel their children. She is from the House of Windsor, she married a Mountbatten, so her children are Mountbatten-Windsors. In the same way Queen Victoria was the last monarch of the House of Hanover and her son was the first monarch of the House of Saxe-Coburg Gotha. Which the Windsors technically are too.

No, there is no place for protocol here.  There are rules about who can register a death.

 

In Scotland, you can register a death if you:

• are related to someone who has died
• were there when the person died
• are an executor or solicitor of the person who has died
• lived with the person who died, if they died at home

If you're none of the above, but no one else can register the death, you can register the death as long as you:

• know the details of the person who has died
• have the right documents

 

So Charles could have done it, but it has nothing to do with his being the new sovereign.

So the poster below was way out, then.  Especially as certified time of death is usually a bit later than the actual death.  Probably only a few minutes in this case.
