Spade_Cooley 9,519 Posted October 29, 2016 Dave Lanning dead at 78. Commentated on the first televised nine-darter (John Lowe in the 84 Matchplay), as well as three of the first six. Basically a less try-hard Sid Waddell.

charon 4,943 Posted August 23, 2017 One for the future maybe... Seems strange Pat Murphy is 'scaling back' to only doing football on a Saturday, no more cricket at all. Says he took the decision last year, his choice etc, but I do wonder .....
Sir Creep 7,070 Posted August 23, 2017 Isn't this a redundancy (or vice versa). Commentators and presenters? SMH. Oh go ahead and chastise me whilst you dance on the head of a pin differentiating the two.... SC

Death Impends 7,964 Posted August 26, 2017 Surprising to me that it took that long and only indirectly. I assumed when I picked him on the DDP that he had enough prominence in Aussie media to slide into Mail or Guardian easily. Maybe his career was too "early"? (in contrast to the above sportscaster who only retired last year)

Clive Tyldesley is in his sixties and with his beloved Rooney out of the England picture, he might be thinking of retirement too, or is that wishful thinking?
