Saw it last night in the Phoenix Cinema in Oban (which is tiny, but a great experience nonetheless)! We're not usually into the DC Comics / Marvel franchise-type films, but wanted to see it due to hearing how friends and colleagues had enjoyed it - and we did! the_engineer 1,415 Posted January 12, 2020 Capricorn one . Of course the conspiracy around this movie is this is the true story of Apollo 1 and Apollo 11 mixed together.
Great Uncle Bulgaria 1,282 Posted January 12, 2020 Saw Jo Jo Rabbit last night. Odd mixture of surreal comedy (10 year old Hitler Youth member has an imaginary friend a la Harvey but in this case it is Adolf Hitler rather than a giant rabbit) and 'Anne Frank' style jew hiding in the attic serious story. The juxtaposition of (only intermittently successful) comedy and tragedy didn't really work for me. Wouldn't recommend.
Winfield 8 Posted January 12, 2020 We went to see 1917 last night - a very good film, the majority of which seemed to have been filmed in one long take (but had apparently been edited to appear as such).

According to the director, he wanted all the takes to last about 6-7 minutes to make it look as if it was one continuous shoot.

Charles De Gaulle 484 Posted December 30, 2020 I watched "The trial of the Chicago 7" a month back. I thought it was very good I enjoyed the acting and the characters. It has a style similar to a Spielburg flim so if you like that style you'll like the trial of the Chicago
the_engineer 1,415 Posted June 9, 2021 Me and the wife just finished watching his house . Pretty good if you're into horror. We also watched spiral last week, ermmm not so good and we've become very turned off and just disgusted by torture porn now, not sure if it's a concequence of the pandemic but we can't stomach any sort of extreme violence on screen anymore. I think saw / movies like it have had their day.
Bibliogryphon 9,569 Posted October 27, 2021 Dune is absolutely fantastic. The normally picky Mrs Biblo said she could not fault it.

I went to see Dune (Part One!!) on Monday. It was my pal's birthday so a bunch of us went along to see it. Dragged a LOT. Actively shifting in my seat during the last 40 minutes. Surely it's going to end now? Now? NOW? Please god, NOW!!!??? Looked old actually. And some places not supposed to be funny actually laughed out loud at the banality of the script. Not to say there isn't a lot to like...but hey, cut out a lot of the crap and maybe it could have been done in one movie. Won't be seeing Part Two. 1
Bibliogryphon 9,569 Posted February 2, 2022 I have watched Encanto three times since Christmas. If you can get past the slightly bizarre premise it is a lot of fun and of course those songs.....
ThereWillBeDeaths7 720 Posted February 2, 2022 Totally agree. Finally found the time to watch it last friday with the GF and have been listening to the soundtrack every day since. Most animated movies we watch together are okay, some quite good, but this one really resonated with me. Heard beforehand how "We don't talk about Bruno" had become quite the hype, I'd say every song was great and really helped the plot move forward.

Paul Bearer 6,100 Posted February 4, 2022 Watched the Sparks film 'Annette' a few weeks ago. Interesting film, a bit weird even by my standard, but I can see why it's winning all sorts of awards.
