The lists are all available on the website, do the research for us. In all seriousness there's probably a post on it somewhere. Whilst browsing old lists I just noticed William Hartnell who died in 1975 is down as a death on 31st December 1999? As well as Wilfred Bramble who died in 1989? Is their a backstory to this? Jack Hargreaves wasn't on the 1993 list. Arthur Marshall wasn't on the 1999 lists. Deaths in the side-bar are not for that years list, but all lists, however they're wildly innaccurate anyway (see Hartnell's supposed 1999 death).

Yeah, the Cmme used to pick really old and dead folk in the days before the internet. Bette Davis is the most famous, but Bramble, Hartnell, iirc Troughton and others all managed the same seat. Fastest hit is surely still Helen Moody on January 2nd 1998. Fastest I can ever recall while on forum was the late great Gerry Rafferty on January 4th 2011. Toast 16,140 Posted March 30, 2019 Ebay question. Bidders' identities are concealed during bidding. When the sale is over, is it possible to find out who bought the item? There's a sale going on which involves a group of items, one of which I want. Chances are the buyer may not actually want all the items, so I was wondering about the possibility of making him an offer for the one item.

I don't think it is, especially with the new fangled data protection act.

I've had a couple of stupid replies from people in their 'help' section. Their replies reveal that they haven't really understood what I've asked. One thinks it would be illegal "in the current climate", whatever that means. Illegal! I ask you! It's common practice at auctions in real life - you buy a lot that contains one thing that you want, and you either leave the rest behind or try to sell it on, and it's a great result when you can do that before leaving the saleroom. I think the real reason is that ebay don't want people buying and selling offsite. But I would be quite happy to buy this item via ebay on a 'buy it now' sale. I shall just have to watch out in case he puts it back up for sale. The whole lot went for way beyond what I was prepared to pay, which is encouraging as I only need this one piece to complete my set.

I'd message the seller and ask him/her if they could pass on your details to the buyer regarding your interest in the item that you wanted. You could even offer them the option of them giving you the buyers details as opposed to them passing on yours. If they are not arse wipes they should have no issue contacting their buyer to give them the opportunity of making a few quid by selling something on to you out of ebay. Win win? Ebay monitor your messages when you use their message facillity. I have heard of people being banned by them for discussing with a seller/buyer the option of continuing with a transaction off site to save on fees.
Toast 16,140 Posted March 30, 2019 I thought of doing that, but judging by the reactions to my innocent question (eg " Even attempting to do this could get you suspended") I'm not sure if I could trust the seller not to be a similar arsewipe. I'd better leave it. I might find one yet for less money. It's the kind of thing that might be found on a junk stall for 20p because people wouldn't know it was collectable and rare.
