Not to include him is a crime, although he has his own thread.

A legend. He built the "war room" of Dr, Strangelove, and all those futuristic James Bond villian-headquarters.

His death should almost be as big as the one of George Martin.

I actually considered her ex-husband and "Addams Family" star John Astin. But not Patty. Kind of a shocker. Wasn't a fan though, I found "The Patty Duke Show" (or whatever that waste of airtime about those identical looking cousins was called) pretty crappy.

Almost every 50´s or 60´s TV series consisting of the words The (insert name) Show was kinda crappy, with the exception of the Dick Van Dyke Show

As reported elsewhere, Michael Cimino has died at the age of 77. Oscar winner for Best Picture and Best Director for the 1978 movie The Deer Hunter. https://www.theguardian.com/film/2016/jul/02/michael-cimino-director-deer-hunter-heavens-gate-dies

I'd quite like to see Cimino's epic flop Heaven's Gate one day, just to see if it really is that bad.

He manages to get a dull performance from John Hurt in it.

well now it's love it or hate it back in the day it came out it was considered one of the worst movies ever made. It could be considered one of the best movies ever made in 20 years time.

Sigh... Academy Award winners of a certain age/illness:

[snip]

Best Supporting Actress

Estelle Parsons b. 1927

[snip]

Estelle Parsons, 88, pulls out of a theatre performance for health reasons and her doctor has advised her to take some time off.

The drama in question has an interesting plot:

The story depicts what happens when four women arrive in Paris for the funeral of a 100-year-old man who loved each of them — sometimes simultaneously. For 24 hours, they share his apartment, delicious secrets, and a dead cat.

Reminds me a bit of this Truffaut film http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0076155/combined
