While Phil looks awful, Banks and Rutherford look in fantastic shape for their age.

1978 Knebworth. Before they got 3 and all poppy. Happy days.

ETA: 1979 Led Zep, masterful.

1980.....wtf???? The Beach Boys??? sponsored by Capital Radio or something? Think I was down the local playing pool. Fuck that.

I don't think it's very likely there will be gigs happening in April.

Is the consensus that Collins will go before Banks, Gabriel and Rutherford?

I don’t think so.  I love me some Peter Gabriel but I would think him first to go.  I smell a poll coming on.  That didn’t come out right.  I feel a poll coming... ah fekk it.

I refer you to the picture posted in this thread on October 26th. I think Collins will be the first to go by some margin

On a segue, he gets a lot of unjustified stick (from 'trendy' white people, it has to be said - a lot of black folks seem to be much more appreciative of his solo music, irony of ironies). The following episode of This American Life (Dr Phil) is a wonderful listen, a girl writes a song about her break-up and gets to speak to PC about what he thinks of her effort; he comes out really well, no superstar bullshit and seems like a genuinely self-effacing good guy - https://www.thisamericanlife.org/339/break-up

Steve Hackett lives about a mile from me but usually spends several months a year touring with his band.

It must be strange for him to be stuck at home due to Covid.

His playing is still fantastic and I hope to see him live again soon.

Happy birthday, Steve! :)

I've seen Gabriel in concert several times. Genesis lost its soul when he and Hackett and left. Phil Collins should have stuck to drumming.

Happy birthday, Peter! :)

I can't really agree with that Gabriel was brilliant but it was bonkers brilliant. He probably is better of on his own. The best album Genesis did is the first one after Gabriel left, though Hackett was still there. They evolved into a different band

His PR people have copied me into downloads and news about his working life for the last few years. The latest album is a Mediterranean themed instrumental collection that stumbles into the sort of stuff labelled muzak decades ago. All very gentle and dreamy in an unchallenging sort of way.

This song is frankly an antiemetic in comparison to other sickening pieces of drivel Genesis have spewed out. I Know What I Like (In Your Wardrobe), anyone?
