Hope they don’t cancel the Darts or football tonight like you said it is times like this it is a relief to have Sky and Bt Sports. It has only been just over an hour since it was announced that Phillip had died and I’m already fed up of the Over the top coverage, making out he was saint. It will be 100 times worse when the Queen dies.
Toast 16,138 Posted April 9, 2021 I daresay Philip would agree with these complaints.

gcreptile 10,970 Posted April 9, 2021 Now, the only question on my mind is, will Meghan be at the funeral?
openviews 334 Posted April 9, 2021 Doubt they'll give Harry and Meghan something else to whine about and ban them from the funeral. Due to current restrictions and social distancing though they might find themselves sitting outside.
The Red Death 87 Posted April 9, 2021 Well about my predictions for 2020s deaths (by each year) though, one of them was 2 years too early. And it's him. If only I had known he didn't want to live to be 100 before. I guess and think now, Henry Kissinger would replace him though.

chiesa52 132 Posted April 9, 2021 Heard about it just as I was leaving the house- I always hear these things at the worst times! Sorry to hear about his death, he was a very unique guy, who dealt with the difficulties of his life by saying whatever he wanted, in the funniest wand wittiest way possible, not necessarily in the most tactful or diplomatic way. The Queen must be devastated, I hope she'll survive this, the greatest loss of her life- looks like it was announced at about 7:30 am over here, 12:30 over there- did they tell you all about it at noon?? He embraced the idea of the Commonwealth, and by that not just the old dominions but all of it. And then spread the deadly bat virus around the world which will result in his planned state funeral being cancelled!

Dead Wait 1,129 Posted April 9, 2021 Very strange to describe the death of a 99 year old as unexpected but after they spent 4 weeks fixing him I really did think he was ready to hit his milestone birthday!

I'm assuming there's a plan in place about crowds, lying in state plans, state funerals, who'll be at the funeral, how they'll get there, and so on. It'll all come out in due course. Absolutely. Unlike Diana, his death has not come out of the blue. For those of us who like the minutiae of such things it'll be interesting to see what happens.

I heard about it when I was on the toilet, my girlfriend shouted the news to me from downstairs. At least I avoided shitting myself otherwise. Honestly, I thought he was a great guy and offended people in the nicest possible way, a legend! I think the Queen will be fine, she's a tough cookie. Charles will be the more devastated one I think.

Vinegar Tits 606 Posted April 9, 2021 2 hours ago, YouOnlyDieOnce said: Absolutely! A great day to hand out thousands of £200 fines without having to travel very far. This overzealous lot need easy pickings to bolster their Xmas party fund and bonuses. I don't care how shameless they are, they wouldn't dare. It would look appalling for both the Met and the government. Being heavy handed at a murdered woman's vigil was bad enough and rightly garnered a lot of ill feeling, but they couldn't get away with such action with this. The list uses the age people will be at their birthday that year, can't know in advance whether they'll make it or not. Something of a 50/50. Don't really see that it's disrespectful at all and even if it were has it therefore been disrespectful to all those that have gone before (that died before their birthday)?
