I considered Dennis Priestley for this year - as a World Champ you would hope he would obit, but I'm not sure. Seems to me you have to be a huge character in the game rather than a consistently good player to get the obits.

Priestly would absolutely piss a QO. Dunno what the cut-off point is for darts players getting a QO though: Morihiro Hashimoto played three times in the World Cup and twice at Ally Pally (eliminating Paul Lim in 2014) and didn't get a QO. Bryan White, who never played a TV match, did QO.

I've heard of Priestley if it helps, Willz. Pretty sure he was still around in the Sky Sid Waddell and co "Spoiler - Phil Taylor wins" era. Other than the big 2, it's him, James Wade, the Scottish guy (Bravedart), Priestley and that's it for late 90s/early 00s.

Apparently Bravedart was a chap called Jamie Harvey who is 66 now and retired from darts due to throat cancer... "He never won any major tournaments" says Wiki which yeah sums up my meagre memories...

I liked the post because of the missing ‘o’ not because I liked discovering he had been charged with sexual assault.

Awful reports coming through that Mike Gregory has died aged 65 - George Noble has replied to this post on Twitter seemingly confirming it:

Hugely successful player and well known face. RIP if true.

He hopes it's not a hoax? Well now, that's not very nice, is it.

Shaun Greatbatch has reportedly died:

DDP Pick for many years, I'm assuming he was picked this year also. @gcreptile

He is in fact a unique hit for Breathless in Seattle, which is remarkably good picking as it was actually the first time the darts player had been picked for the DDP since 2016!
