From the same illness, I saw Remembrance of the Daleks (and the Mr Bean episode) when Dursley McLinden was still alive, and it was a terrible shock many years later to find he'd died aged only 30 from AIDS in 1995. He seemed like he was going to be a proper acting talent too. There was a tribute to him in It's A Sin (the main character is seemingly loosely based on McLinden), as he and Russell T Davies knew each other. But belatedly finding out things used to happen all the time. I remember reading through the Newspapers "Those We Lost" page one family Christmas get together when I found out that Burgess Meredith (I was a big Batman fan at the time) had died some months previously.
