Zsa Zsa's leg 884 Posted June 9, 2017 As an American, this is my first British election that I've actively spectated. I am truly shocked, but can't say I am surprised at what I just saw. We experienced this back in November. I guess we can say that both countries should never trust polls any more. I did root for May but I can't say too much as I don't live in the country. The future of the United Kingdom is looking almost as grim as the United States' right now. Good luck!
gcreptile 10,979 Posted June 9, 2017 This is the third electoral mess of the current Tory era, after Scottish Independence and Brexit. The third 50:50-outcome that is decided by a hair's breadth. This cannot be good for the health of the country. And some people want Brexit vote 2.0, or ScotInd. 2.0, and they'll probably get election 2.0 (with 1.0 an unnecessary snap election). These have been messy years. Apparently Britain doesn't know what it wants.
gcreptile 10,979 Posted June 9, 2017 I guess May will try to keep in power any way possible and enter the Brexit talks with a 1-2-seat majority awkwardly cobbled together. That majority will fall apart after a couple of weeks/months and re-elections will result in Prime Minister Corbyn.
The Mad Hatter 1,092 Posted June 9, 2017 If it comes to coalition governments then the Tories are screwed. The SNP are far more likely to join with labour than the Tories.

Apparently Britain doesn't know what it wants. Yep it's a monumental mess. I know the media have been around for a long time but not 24 hour media - I wonder if the election coverage is edited to give close results which then give them even more to talk about and fill their days? When you see people like Diane Abbott getting elected you have to wonder on what basis people place their votes! If she'd been in charge of the vote they would have had at least 4 or 5 recounts. Deathray 2,940 Posted June 9, 2017 As soon as the Tories lose some by-elections May is fucked. A majority of 6.5 working is unlikely.
