Death Impends 7,977 Posted November 25, 2016 That marks the first death from my retired Muppet Show theme team since 2013.
Joey Russ 7,228 Posted November 25, 2016 When the entries are finally open, I have a theme team planned and ready to send to you as soon as the entries open up. My main team will wait until the end. All entries for the theme team are locked and ready to send to you as soon as possible. Some aren't surprises once you see the theme of the team, but I promise a few obscure names on the list. I now have the title of both my main team and theme team set. While I can confirm that my main team name is a day in the death (in honor of the Beatles a day in the life), my theme team name will have to wait longer to be announced. Gooseberry Crumble 5,346 Posted November 26, 2016 We'll piss it. 250+ I reckon. I think that will stand for a while too. 2017 will be a trickier year for hits, I reckon... "You said "reckon" twice". "I like "reckon"... On the contrary I think there's many reasons to reckon that in 2017 the Derby Dead Pool and the Deathlist will have a"bumper" year boosted in part by lots of "overdue" long termers finally departing. Deathray 2,940 Posted November 26, 2016 We'll see. One thing is for for sure, in deadpooling and general celebrity death terms, 2016 will be a tough act to follow... Maybe, but it's worth remembering the underlying cause is a lot of celebrities ageing. Celebrities aren't going to suddenly stop ageing. I wouldn't be surprised if by 2019 one high profile death a day is considered normal with even the likes of McCartney and Mick Jagger being consigned to the end of news bulletins. It makes far more sense than aging, what even is an ag anyway?

YoungWillz 21,052 Posted November 28, 2016 'Ageing' is in the OED. So is aging. Aging: n., sl. - a red haired person. I may have just made that up, of course.

YoungWillz 21,052 Posted November 29, 2016 Whilst I'm in no particular rush, I wonder if TMIB could give us an idea of when entries can be submitted for 2017. No presh, but I see we are about to enter that time of year. No doubt some indication of any major changes to the rules would be appreciated too. Keep taking the tablets for your stress levels! themaninblack 2,112 Posted November 30, 2016 Well, the main change is that the unlucky 13 bonus is ditched in favour of the Drop 40 bonus. Any obit death which features in the top 40 picks of 2017 will get a 3 point bonus. Other bits and pieces: The Independent is dropped as a source as it is online with no print version (apart from the "I" of course) - very few obits come from there anyway. MIAs: Anyone that is declared missing at the time of the nomination period/beginning of DDP 2017 are excluded from the competition. That's to avoid a repeat of the Strickler controversy... It should all kick off sometime next week (7th-10th most likely). The (minor) problem is that it sits awkwardly time-wise with the regular updates. The "new" month of blog updates tends to start mid-month (when I also update the TTL and declare the Player of the Month). What I'm going to do is to let it run into December without archiving so we get two months worth of updates on the index page by the end of the year. I shall retrospectively make a division in January when consigning 2016 to the history books...

Sir Creep 7,070 Posted December 1, 2016 So with a month to go who would be your vote for biggest shock on List of the Lost? I will still say Kitty Kallen's absence in the U.K. media outlets remains a mystery. Piet de Jong gets a tip o the cap as well, I mean he was only a neighbouring PM after all. Total disrespect. Those are my top 2. SC

Looks like we will all be picking a bunch more nobodies and cancer mums so long as death awaits them. It's kinda sad you let the list of sources dictate 'fame' instead of common sense. And if there is no element of fame involved, why are we doing this? My team will start off with whatever is left from Shameless and build from there. msc 18,477 Posted December 1, 2016 The very first DDP had a successful hit with a ten year old child. I like to think TMIB and OoO have moved us on considerably since then. A popular 50 year old is now worth the same joker points as a obscure (but not unique) under-30, which is a clear way of trying to address things without bringing the ban-hammer into play. Let's see how that changes things, psychologically, if at all.

Those are my top 2. SC I'd go with Isao Tomita one of the Pioneers of Electronic Music not getting a UK Obit, particularly as in the Us anyway he got mentioned in most mainstream music sites and got full writes in the 2 biggest papers(NT and LA Times). The closure of the Independent probably cost him and a few other's mentions.
